1. Thread needle with 6 feet of thread. String on 20 SB15, position 6 inches from end of thread. Form loop and tie a square knot using both thread ends.

2. Using peyote stitch technique, pick up 1 SB15, skip next bead, and go through following bead. Repeat this all around. Stitch tubular, rather than flat circular.

3. Step-up to next row by passing only the needle through the first bead stitched on, which will be the “high” bead.

4. Continue peyote stitch by picking up 1 SB11A and go through the next “high” bead, allowing the SB11A to rest in the valley. Repeat all around.

5. Step-up and continue peyote stitch using SB11B. Repeat all around.

7. Start netting stitch by first moving thread so that it exits from center SB15 picot bead. Pick up 2 SB11B, 1 SB11A, 2 SB11B and pass through next center picot SB15. Repeat all around.

6. Step-up. Pick up one 3mm round and 3 SB15, pass back through 3mm round and through next “high” SB11B. Repeat all around. You should have a total of ten 3mm rounds with three bead picots.

8. Continue netting stitch by moving thread so that it exits from center SB11A bead. Pick up 6 SB15 and pass through next center SB11A. Repeat all around.

9. Move thread so that it exits from first SB15. Pick up 4 SB15 and pass through sixth SB15, SB11A, and first SB15 in next segment. Repeat all around.

11. Move thread through first 5 SB15 and then 10 SB15 in seed bead loop. Pick up 4 SB11A and pass through 4 middle SB15. Repeat all around.

12. Move thread through 4 SB11A. Pick up 2 SB15 and pass through next 4 SB11A. Repeat all around.

13. Exit thread from second SB11A bead. Pck up 2 SB11B, 1 SB11A, 2 SB11B and pass through last two SB11A in next segment, 2 SB15, and 2 SB11A. Repeat all around.

This row will start cinching inward to capture donut bead so remember to insert donut bead as you get to the end of the round. Cinch row tight to secure donut. If you feel it’s necessary to reinforce that row, pass another path of thread through row.

If you’re running out of thread, end thread and start new thread (about 5-6 feet) using half-hitched knot method described on page 9.

14. Exit thread from fourth SB11A at edge of donut. String on the following beads but adjust according to your desired length: 1 SB11C, 7 SB11A, 1 SB11C, 6 SB11A, 1 SB11B, 3mm round, 1 SB11B, 6 SB11A, 1 SB11C, 6 SB11A, 1 SB11B, 3mm round, 1 SB11B, 6 SB11A, 5 SB11C. Create a seed bead loop using the last 5 SB11C beads by passing thread through all beads just strung, except the 5 SB11C beads.

Move thread through following 4 SB15 and 4 SB11A beads. String on the same set of beads, except reduce the amount of SB11A in the first set from 7 to 2 beads, or whatever count fits the space. Repeat for all strands.

Stitch cross-over beads by adding about 5 SB11A between strands, looping over threads only at intersections. End thread ends using half-hitched knot method. Attach filigree connector and clasp at ends using open jumprings. Enjoy!

HALF-HITCHED KNOTStart and stop thread using this half-hitched knot method.

Needle under thread. Pull thread to form a small thread loop and pass needle through loop. Pull knot over thread in weave, making sure you pinch your stitch so that the pulling of the knot doesn’t distort you stitches.

Needle through several beads and repeat at least two more times.
