BrochureDescription: Brochure created for Rhino Tours
Date: 7/11/2104
Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 05, Julie peterson
Programs/tools: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
Objectives: To express extreme tours and what that really means through a brochure.
Process: I started by creating the Rhino logo in indesign. I thought that including the horn in
the N would look nice so I started with just that but it looked kind of weird and almost looked
like a shark fin so I added the face of the rhino which helped the overall look anyway. After
doing this it still looked dull so I decided that adding a rhino would look good. I then made
it look as though he was coming through the metal using a picture of a hole in a wall and
photoshop. I then started on the inside. It took me a long time to finally decide that this was
the background that I wanted to use and then I just looked for different images of safaris.
MontageDescription: A montage for another travel company that guides through aztec temples
Date:
Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 05, Julie peterson
Programs/tools: photoshop
Objectives: To communicate a feeling of excitement in tourism using a montage.
Process: I had started by looking for a picture to place in the background and at first that
happened to be an aztec man but then I found that the best to use would be the picture of
the jaguar. I then found the background picture and found a way to mix the two together
using different amounts of light. The text was the next part; I added a gradient to make it
look as though the sun was shining onto the text.
LogosDescription: 3 Logos that I created for a fictional design company that I would like to one
day create.
Date:
Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 05, Julie peterson
Programs/tools: Adobe Illustrator
Objectives: I want people to be able to look at these logos and immediately think of the
professionalism that my company can offer them. I also would like them to see the logos
and think of creativity and also cleanliness.
Process: I started by drawing up some different concepts for the different logos. I wanted to
have a very basic logo, A logo with design and I have always like signature logos so I tried
that out as well. I used illustrator to come up with a few different designs. The hardest was
the middle. as soon as I came up with the idea I was then able to illustrate the wings and
halo with illustrator.
Letter HeadDescription: A letterhead that I created for a company nearby. The company is a railing
and steele company.
Date:
Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 05, Julie peterson
Programs/tools: Illustrator
Objectives: I tried to create something that looked professional and also portrayed the idea
of the railing that the company sells which is in the logo and letterhead.
Process: I used a few different programs, both Adobe Illustrator and InDesign. The hardest
part was the creation of the Logo, after doing that I was able to then find a color scheme
that worked nicely and professionally. I found that after creating the Logo and design I was
then able to create the rest quite easily using color and design. After doing this, I created
the water mark using a part of the logo to make it look even more professional. At first the
water mark was solid but I then noticed that a grunge look actually adds to the design and
to the feel of steele.
Business cardDescription: A business card for a company in Idaho. The company is looking for something
professional looking and artistic.
Date:
Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 05, Julie peterson
Programs/tools: Illustrator
Objectives: To communicate professionalism and quality through business cards. I wanted
people to think quality as soon as they see these business cards.
Process: I started by creating the logo which was probably the hardest part. I then created
the cards using illustrator by placing the logos and creating the borders to the cards. The
borders are probably my favorite part just because they are add a little bit of grunge; this
fits the steele look that the company offers. At first I didnt have the logo on both sides
of the card but as I placed it on the contact side I noticed that it actually gives it a more
comfortable feel and it helps the costumer to remember the company.
Web pageDescription: This is my very first website for my design company.
Date:
Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 05, Julie peterson
Programs/tools: Illustrator, Text Wrangler
Objectives: To communicate a professional, exciting and creative website. I wanted
customers to understand that working with Diamond Design would help their company to
move up in quality and excitement as well.
Process: I started by using illustrator to create a logo. I found a diamond online and
created a vector to look like one. The hardest part was making the diamond look creative
but professional. I then incorporated the design into a website using HTML. After creating
the base of the website I then stylized it using CSS.
ImagingDescription: I designed a picture that I took and designed it with a quote.
Date:
Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 05, Julie peterson
Programs/tools: photoshop
Objectives: To create a good feel and use a quote that can influence the lives of others
using a photo that I took.
Process: I used photoshop for this assignment, I photographed a few different pictures
that I actually have below. I then tried to include a few different colors from the photo
to create a swatch for the text and top border. At first the photo that I had used was
taking up the entire page so I decided to erase a couple of different parts of the photo
which helped to free up some white space and overall give it a better look. I then made
the font a little smaller which gave it more space and helped to give more attention to
the photo.
Event AdDescription: A bulletin created for the advertisement of a “Battle of the Bands” benefit
concert. In other words it is a fundraiser that will help with cancer prevention.
Date:
Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 05, Julie peterson
Programs/tools: Microsoft word
Objectives: Create an event ad using only photoshop.
Process: The Process on this assignment was somewhat simple since I could only use
Microsoft Word. I started by finding a photo in a magazine which is placed in the
background. The photo was very bright at first so I added a gradient which I placed
above it to lessen the brightness. I then added the fonts, they were a problem at first
because they were hard to read so I added a few more gradients with a higher amount
of opacity underneath the text to help it pop. It wasn’t a very long process but definitely
rewarding.
FlierDescription: A black and white flyer that promotes a graduates leadership conference for
educating students on how to become better leaders.
Date:
Course/Instructor: Comm 130 Section 05, Julie peterson
Programs/tools: Photoshop
Objectives: creae a black and white flyer using photos that were given to me.
Process: The process of this assignment was quite simple. I started by creating a few
different drafts on paper. By creating this drafts or sketches I was able to let my mind
expand on how I would really create the flyer. To be honest the sketches were a lot
different than the final outcome but I liked the outcome anyway. I used mostly InDesign
for creating the flyer. I created a few different boxes and just molded them to the shapes
that I wanted using the Direct selection tool.
