DESIGN THINKING OFFERINGS BY IDEAFARMS Design thinking is a way for non-designers to approach problem solving the design way.

It has a methodology, approach and tools. But most importantly, it requires a

fundamentally different mindset. Incorporating Design Thinking into an organization

requires a shift in culture, reorienting teams to bring the user into focus.

Ideafarms’ offerings begin with sessions aimed at reorientation, followed by strategic

interventions to steadily incorporate Design Thinking, with the ultimate goal of bringing

about a shift in the cultural mindset.

Sensitization and Reorientation Short term

Workshops

Spread over two days, the workshop introduces participants to the methodology and

tools of Design Thinking. Participants work through a problem statement to get a hands-

on feel of the process and walk away knowing why it’s important to think from the

customer’s point of view.

The 2 day workshop lays the foundation, and is a pre-requisite for all other Design Thinking interventions.

Masterclasses

Masterclasses dive deeper into the methodology – participants work within a specific

step of the Design Thinking methodology and explore it in-depth using tools that are

relevant to a problem statement.

Solution-Seeking Facilitation Short to Mid term

Bootcamps

During the 3 day bootcamp, participants apply the Design Thinking methodology and

tools to seek high-level solutions to a real problem that is relevant and in the context of

the organization.

Customer collaboration

Bringing in actual customers into the Design Thinking masterclasses and bootcamps

gives the participating organization a two-fold benefit of understanding from real

customers (as opposed to playing the role of the customer); and acts as a marketing

tool to project the organization as a user-centric one.

Strategic Interventions Mid - Long term

Project Facilitation

Design Thinking experts work with the internal teams to incorporate the Design Thinking

methodology on a project from start to finish – depending upon the organisation’s

requirements, an internal team can also be built for facilitations.

Culture Building

The goal of the strategic intervention is to build a Design Thinking culture and

systematically reduce the involvement of Ideafarms, first by extensive project

facilitation, training and coaching and finally handing over to an internal Design Thinking

Centre of Excellence.

The strategic interventions begin with a Design Thinking readiness dipstick, to identify

the whether the organisation is ready for a full-scale cultural transformation.

Once the preparedness of the organisation is determined, internal Design Thinking

champions are identified. Depending upon the organisational needs and capacity,

external team members may be brought on board. A crack team involving the internal

champions and external members (if required) sets up a Design Thinking Centre of

Excellence within the organisation.

Design Thinking experts facilitate projects at the initial level while enterprise coaches

build the internal capacity for future facilitations as well as coaching. The internal team

is introduced into project facilitations in a phased manner, ultimately taking over the

entire Design Thinking practice in the organization.
