Oahu generates more than 2.2 million tons of waste annually from residential, commercial and industrial sources.

I Found out that H-Power (Honolulu Program of Waste Energy Recovery) Processes the garbage and burns it in furnaces to produce steam that drives a turbine generator

H-Power began operation in 1990

and today converts approximately

2,000 tons of waste per day – Enough to

power 60,000 homes

H-Power produces up to 10% of Oahu’s electricity and reduces the volume of refuse going to landfill by 90%

H-Power reduces our dependence on imported oil. One

ton of trash produces saleable energy equivalent to 60 gallons of oil.

I’m just a student and I don’t have the resources to build facilities like H-Power.

But I have an Idea!!

This would help H-Power and other institutions to

be more efficient in recycling our waste

Will reinforce this waste management rule to all communities – Will refuse to take their trash if it is not segregated.

Will coordinate with the Government to strengthen this project
