This book began in a hospital. My father was a doctor there, my mother and grandmother were nurses there, my brother works there, and my grandfather was a doctor there and built it.
My biggest inspiration for this book is my father who worked at the hospital for many years. He has helped and made a lot of patients happy. I am named by my grandfather after an old saying, “Medical treatment comes from Jin.” In Japanese Jin means consideration and kindness.
Doctors and graphic designers have a lot of things in common. They both find a problem and discover a solution. Just like doctors, graphic designers have to experiment to find the answer. As a graphic designer, all I want to do is to help people with their problems and make them happy, as my father did. So if you have any design problem, please call me before you call 911. I will help you as best as I can.
This is why I was born, to help people with design.

この本を作る為のインスピレーションになったのは、医師である父です。彼は何年間も病院で勤務し、たくさんの患者さん達の病気を直し幸せにしてきました。 私の名前の由来、医は仁術からです。日本語で仁は親切、慈愛を意味します。
私は医師とグラフィックデザイナーには様々な共通点があると思います。どちらの仕事でも、問題を探して答えを探さなければいけません。医師と同様、グラフィックデザイナーは依頼者の方の問題を解決して、幸せになってもらはないといけません。私はグラフィックデザイナーとして父と同じ様、他の人を助けながら仕事がしたいです。もしデザイン問題があれば、911番に電話する前に、私に電話してきて下さい。できるかぎり力になります。

2. ANALYSISThese are the color coded analysis of the subject i’m designing for. each color is applied to different analysis, and the color bar shows the level of each topic. The less color there are, the more i had to work to improve or focus on in order to design.

DIAGNOSIS
TREATMENT
The beer company that i chose was yebisu beer, which is one of the extended beer
brands by Sapporo in Japan. yebisu is the god of f ishermen, which represents luck,
happiness and wealth. Then i asked mysel f the quest ion, “How do i te l l the american
people what yebisu means?” my solut ion was to create the happiest Japanese face
ever. i want people to be happy when they dr ink this beer. That comes back to how
yebisu is of ten thought about in Japan. He br ings you happiness.

There is a reason the word “yoUrS” has oUrS in i t . The United States is l is ted
as one of the most wasteful countr ies in the world. i t ’s not only because of mass
product ion of goods, but a lso a prevalence of sel f ish behavior. in order to solve
this problem, i created a chi ldren book about shar ing with a lot of fun i l lustrat ions.
in addit ion, th is book can be for parents. i incorporated important informat ion
about how we are wast ing our natural resources by not shar ing our stuf f. an event
wi l l take place in Downtown San Francisco where everybody can exper ience a t ruly
sustainable l i festy le.

Create an ident i ty system for an organizat ion that solves a local problem.

TREATMENT
What’s up with the fog in San Francisco? Do you love i t or hate i t? i love i t , but a
lot of people don’t . So i came up with a solut ion for them. Why don’t we col lect the
fog that rol ls in to San Francisco and turn i t into dr inking water. i t wi l l be f ree and
plent i fu l . Then al l people might love the fog l ike i do. i cal l th is system “Fog bank,”
because i t col lects the fog l ike dinero in the bank. in the process of making an
ident i ty system, i t r ied many mater ia ls to execute the graphics that communicated
how this system works. i chose to spray paint to get the texture that represents the
fog. also i used gradat ion within c i rc le to show how the water is saved.

What does i t take to inspire an art ist? This group project started with this quest ion.
Since we were art students, we went to art stores al l the t ime. However, there are
no art stores in San Francisco that inspired us. That ’s why we wanted to create
something that was unique and engaging. you can’t categor ize art ists in one
category. There are many people who do art for var ious reasons. you may be a
kid, ar t student, ar t enthusiast or a professional ar t ist . you get inspired by di f ferent

TREATMENT
How do i inspire people to come watch the wheelchair basketbal l? i t was my f i rst
quest ion when i started to do this project . i was inspired by the documentary cal led
“murder bal l” by Henry alex rubin. i t was about paraplegics who play ful l -contact
rugby in mad max-sty le wheelchairs. This movie had impact on me and started to
watch wheelchair basketbal l game. i t is amazing how they can play a sport even
though they have less abi l i ty to use their body. i just wanted to encourage people
to go see these games. i wanted to encourage other disabled person to part ic ipate
in th is event. The solut ion was to make something that looks fun and invi t ing.
That ’s why i chose br ight color pel tate to use in th is project .

why hi made up this company cal led “bLiNk.” i named this company in order to
communicate how fast th is t ra in wi l l take you from point a to b. So the tag l ine of
th is company is “ bLiNk! and you are there.” as far as the logo mark goes, i wanted
to communicate how the tra in operates. They come and go. So that ’s why i made
this logo so that i t could read in two ways. i f you look at the logo, i t looks not only

Pick one exist ing whiskey company and redesign their packaging system by using
evolut ionary and revolut ion.
DIAGNOSIS
TREATMENT
The whiskey company that i chose was old Grand-dad Whiskey company by beam.
inc. The exist ing packaging has a statue of basi l Hayden who is the owner of th is
company. For evolut ionary move, i wanted to face- l i f t th is bott le by changing the
statue to new i l lustrat ion and fresh color. For revolut ionary move, i added one more
concept that goes along with name of the brand. This brand has a great name “old
Grand-dad Whiskey” which everybody can relates to. but, they just basi l Hayden
as their branding. i wanted to create something that everybody can relate to. my
solut ion was to use Grand-dad clock as a concept.

What would you do i f you can have your l i fe one more t ime? Do you take that
r isk? or just die l ike everybody else? The typeface that i chose was kievi t by mike
abbink. kievi t occurred in 1995 as part of a school project and was f in ished several
years later for a corporate cl ient of method inc. , a design f i rm in San Francisco.
That ’s is why i chose Neuropreservat ion as a concept s ince i t does the same
thing. The concept of Neuropreservat ion is to f reeze your brain wi thin 30 minutes
af ter you are dead, and preserve the brain in order to wai t for possible future to
regenerate your body f rom brain again.
