Overview:
With the ever increasing enrollment in universities, administrators are more focused on accommodating as many pupils into one classroom, and less on the assets and the classroom experience as a whole. We have investigated major factors that culminate a higher quality of learning. !
A classroom and its furniture should provide a comfortable, simple, and inspiring learning environment for students with limited aptness for disruption and interference.

So do We Control Space or Does The Space Control us?- Lefebvre argued that every society - and therefore every mode of production- produces a certain space, its own space.- If every community produces its own space (i.e the classroom), and “social existence” declaring itself to be real, but not producing its own space would be a strange entity, a very peculiar abstraction
SPACE & PLACE:
"Social space is a (social) product [...] the space thus produced also serves as a tool of thought and of action [...] in addition to being a means of production it is also a means of control, and hence of domination, of power”

Framework Inquiry:
How much does the layout and functionality of the classroom affect the quality of learning?
What can universities do to promote a better learning experience through its classroom's layout, equipment and furniture?
Who’s responsibility is it to purchase a university’s classroom furniture as well as equipment, and what compels them to buy one product over the other?
Which classroom objects have enough flexibility, in terms of design, to enable improvement?

In order to fully apprehend the plight of the classroom we had to understand the principal characteristics of what
makes the space functional and cultivates learning.
Therefore, we narrowed down the idea to one single concept in order to meet the goals and needs of the user while also accommodating with technical constraints.

Opportunity:
After analyzing every component of the classroom we found an opportunity in re-designing the board. It is the focal point of the classroom and the most used element.
In order to approach the new design a number of observations, analysis, and prototyping were conducted.

Summary & Observation:
The layout of the classroom can enhance or diminish the quality of a student’s learning.
Through research and user testing we were able to have a better understanding and thus an
incremental solution to the bigger issue.
“The whole should be greater than the sum of it’s parts.”
This issue can be defined as discovering and outlining the ideal learning environment that is
multifunctional, affordable, and allows for easy maintenance.
School administrators and faculty who are involved in the purchasing of furniture and classroom
equipment must take into account many determinants. Understanding the need for the
stakeholders, as well as staying within budget are among the main factors.

Next Steps...Investigate how to utilize our observational process for each element in and leading to the classroom.Compile all furniture/equipment solutions and findings into a bi-annual reference pamphlet that explores new and innovative guide lines.

Critique:
! Continue on selling strategy not the product (idea of flexibility/opportunity)
! Show the process that lead to us implementing this product
! Think about the bigger picture as well as the positioning
! Stakeholders: identify their needs
! Administration cares mostly about cost
! Improve on space-place
