ALISTAIR MURRAY Alistair Murray is Chairman of internationally renowned marine hardware company Ronstan International and past president of the Australian International Marine Export Group. Alistair has received many distinguished awards for his business achievements including Marine Exporter of the Year, 2014 Yachting Victoria Award for Services to Yachting and 2014 USA Sailing Industry Distinguished Service Award.

Alistair is also a keen sailor and is founder and Chairman of the International Sailing Summit. Alistair will address delegates on leadership and the challenges, opportunities and successful strategies to manufacture and market marine equipment globally.

MICHAEL HOAREMichael’s role with the New Zealand Export Credit Office is to support NZ exporters as they identify opportunities to grow their business. NZ Government-provided Trade Credit Insurance and Financial Guarantee products may assist with securing new business opportunities.

Prior to joining the NZECO team Michael spent 11 years working with the ANZ in Australia, with a primary focus on business development within the Third Party Relationship and Retail Banking teams.

DOUG LEEDERDoug Leeder was re-elected as the Chair of the Bay of Plenty Regional Council in October 2016 after three years in the role. Doug has over 30 years’ experience in governance roles, including director and Chairman of Bay Milk Products, director of the East Bay Health Board, and Chairman NZ Dairy Group. Doug has been instrumental in the Council’s financial contribution of $5million towards the Tauranga City Council’s $11.4 million new Tauranga Harbour Marine Precinct. Doug is also a Director of the Port of Tauranga.

MARK MCKINNONMark is IC Frith’s National Development Manager (Broking) and has been assisting marine industry companies with practical insurance advice since 2005. During his 37 years in the insurance industry, Mark has worked for Royal Insurance, Lumley Insurance and has also owned his own broking company. Mark has a key focus on procuring new business through various individual and scheme channels. IC Frith is NZ Marine’s insurance provider and major partner to NZ Marine in hosting this 2017 Conference.

SPEAKERS

PHIL ROSSPhil is a marine ecologist at the University of Waikato’s Coastal Marine Field Station in Tauranga. Since 2012, Phil has led the University of Waikato’s operations at Astrolabe Reef, conducting research to determine the ecological impacts of the Rena grounding and to help us understand what the future of the wreck and Astrolabe Reef might look like.

LLOYD KIRBYLloyd has been with RSM New Zealand since 1987 and a partner since 2001. Lloyd began his career in the Auckland city office where he built a solid skill base in the traditional aspects of accounting while nurturing an expanding base of inspirational and driven clients.

Lloyd works with his clients to challenge the status quo and look at expanding and growing their business. RSM New Zealand is NZ Marine’s accounting provider.

YOUNG LEADERSOur Young Leaders panel session will focus on case studies on opportunities (and challenges) for younger managers/owners (under 40) to grow their companies and their own expertise and aspirations. This session will be facilitated by Andy Blackburn, Director of the NZ Innovation Council.

PETER MONTGOMERY, MBEAs long-standing friend and supporter of the NZ marine industry, Peter Montgomery needs no introduction. Peter’s distinctive voice and style has done more to increase the public perception of sailing in New Zealand than any other individual.

As the voice of New Zealand yachting for over three decades, Peter has covered all the major events including nine America’s Cups, seven Olympic Games and all nine Whitbread/Volvo Ocean races.
