ABSTRACT SPRING SEPARATOR work under the principle

centrifugal force. Many of the manufacturing products have compression spiral springs. In storage they collide each other.

These collided compression spiral springs are segregated manually now a day, which takes more time to segregated and not accurate since the colliding between the compressions spring are not visible to the eye sight.

To avoid these problems, we design an equipment spring separator, which is very useful. It is also economic and time saving in segregating the collided compression spiral spring.

INTRODUCTION INTRODUCTION SPRING SEPARATOR is a product helps in segregating the

collided springs. Manufacturing products such as Electrical Switches, Bulbs, Meters, Speedo Meters of Vehicles, Pens and some of the Electrical appliances have compression spiral springs.

Manufacturing Industries, which manufacture such type of product. May require compression spiral springs in enormous amount. So such type of Industries keeps the compression spiral springs in stock by storing them.

So due to storage they get collide with each other. Separating them manually is a time consuming process. It is not that easy to separate small minute springs manually. By using a spring separator these springs can be separated easily and quickly. Therefore, spring separator can be used here for segregating he collided springs considering the economic and time savings aspects instead of separating manually, which is done now a days.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION BODY: Body of the spring separator is made up of wood .It is mainly designed for

placed the motor inside the body and the container over the body.

CONTAINER: Container is designed in cylindrical shape. The splitting flange located

inside the container and share with 1mm clearance by attaching it to the spindle of the motor.

Face of the container is an open type, which is used to segregation of the collided springs is done inside the container. The container is placed on the top of the body. A cover is provided in top side of the container, which helps collided springs into the container.

SPLITTING FLANGE: The splitting flange is in circular shape. There are two pinges

are provided in the flange and it is placed to opposite side to each other. The splitting flange is fitted by bolt and stud to the motor spindle. The splitting flange plays a vital role to segregating spiral springs with the help of stud at the centre and pinges at the either sides. This is directly attached to the motor spindle to achieve no loss of torque.

PINGE: Pinge is made up of mild steel. This pinge is designed sufficiently

into two segments with over all height of 10 mm. CONE EXHAUST: It is made up of sheet metal. It is in rectangular shape.

This is mounted in between container and collecting tray. The spring in single and do not allow to collide again as they come out one by one.

COVER: This cover is made up of wood. This is used to close the

container when the process is undergoing and open only to put the collided springs. During the process, the springs may be thrown out by the centrifugal force of the flange; therefore the cover is used to avoid accident.

MOTOR: A D.C. Motor is used to rotating flange continuously. The D.C. Converts

electrical energy into mechanical energy. Whenever the armature rotates in between field winding it cuts the magnetic field and produce D.C. Supply to 12 volts, 5 amps.

The magnitude of the force is given by, F=BLI Newton.Where, F= force produced on the conductor in Newton. B=Magnetic flux density in web/sq-m L=the length of conductor in the magnetic field in meter. I=the current following through the conductor in ampere.RECTIFIER: In our project one D.C. Power device has been used to operate the motor. A rectifier is used to convert the A.C. Supply into D.C. Supply which is used to

rotate the D.C. Shunt motor. We are not using a D.C. batteries directly because of it needs proper charging and

frequent replacement and also costly.

Working principle Our project spring separator works under the principle of centrifugal

force.

CENTRIFUGAL FORCE:Centrifugal force is the force that acts radically

away from the center of the circular path. It is the reactive to the centripetal.

` When the collided compression spiral springs are put together inside the spring separator from top of the container. The collided springs directly hits on the splitting flange which is rotating in to the speed of 2500rpm. Since the splitting flange is directly fitted to motor spindle.

The pinges, which is on the either side of the splitting flange, gives rotating force on the collided springs. This gets a jerk to the collided sprigs and starts collapsing among springs.

Therefore they have been segregated one by one and then the pinges push the spring to the stud. The separated spring delivered from the open of the container.

Then the springs come out through the exhaust. This is the working principle of our project “SPRING SEPARATOR”

D.C PERMANENT MAGNET MOTOR

The permanent magnet motor can have DC power applied to the armature, but the strength of the permanent field cannot be varied. This type of D.C motors, which is the cheapest and the most common is small sizes can be controlled only by controlling the current in the armatures. We will see that this method control will allow only speed to be decreased from the “nominal” value listed on the meter’s nameplate. This direction that this motor rotates can be changed by charging the polarity of the applied D.C.

Torque output of a standard permanent magnet-motor is limited by the amount of current that the armature windings can carry without burning out. Lot’s of current carrying mean’s heavier armatures.
