Derrick D. Cephas Joins Housing Partnership Board
New York, NY, July 29, 2013--Derrick D. Cephas has been elected to the Board of
Directors of the Housing Partnership Development Corporation.
Mr. Cephas, is a partner at Weil, Gotshal & Manges, LLP, where he heads the law firm's
Financial Institutions Regulatory practice group and is a member of its Financial
Regulatory Reform Working Group.
Mr. Cephas served as the New York State Superintendent of Banks from 1991 to 1994.

Prior to joining Weil, Gotshal, Mr. Cephas served as President and Chief Executive
Officer of Amalgamated Bank. Earlier, he was a banking and corporate law partner at
Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft.
Mr. Cephas has significant experience in public policy matters relating to the banking
industry. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Dime Savings Bank of
New York, Merrill Lynch International Bank and D.E. Shaw & Co. Inc. He is currently a
director of the Fresh Air Fund, Empire State Development Corporation, the New York
Public Asset Fund and Trevor Day School.

Mr. Cephas graduated from Harvard College in 1975 and from Harvard Law School in
1979.
The Housing Partnership, a not-for-profit organization, serves as New York City's
primary intermediary for the development of new and rehabilitated affordable housing on
both public and private sites, producing over 30,000 units in its 30 year history.
