Basics

• Data is processed in SYVÄ-system– Based on ArcMap by ESRI– 2-3 fulltime depth data updaters– Planning for new system has started

• Data processing– Old and new data are used– Features are locked inside working area– Every scale needs own job

Steps of depth data processing

• Preparing– Choosing area to be updated– New and old data together• Geotiffs from multibeam surveying• Singlebeam survey data• Field sheets• Sounding suggestions• Rock suggestions from NLS• Fairway data

• Editing– Drawing depth contours and joining to existing

ones– Creating areas– Choosing suitable sounding suggestions– Adding/changing rocks– Done in all scales that are present in particular

area

• Checking– Done in pairs• Contours, areas, depth points

– Sometimes with FME• Checking consistency in different scales

– Short time compared to whole process
