DepED Order 8, s 2015Policy Guidelines on Classroom Assessment for the K to 12 Basic Education ProgramWhat is Classroom Assessment?Is a process that is used to keep track of learners progress in relation to learning standards in the development of 21st century skills; to promote self-reflection and personal accountability among students about their own learning; and to provide bases for the profiling of student performance on the learning competencies and standards of the curriculum.2 Types of Assessment:Formative assessment for learning so teachers can make adjustment in their instruction, also a way wherein students reflect. Not a basis for grading.Summative assessment that measures the different ways learners use and apply all relevant knowledge, understanding, and skills. A basis for grading.Components of Summative AssessmentWritten Work (WW) this includes long quizzes, and unit or long tests. This may also include essays, written reports and other written output.Performance Task (PT) this includes skills demonstration, group presentations, oral work, multimedia presentations and research projects. Written output may also be considered as performance tasks.Quarterly Assessment (QA)measures student learning at the end of the quarter.
