HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT
The Civil Engineering department,
SXCCE was started in 1999, the
very next year of the college
inception to cater to the growing
needs of builders for our nation
and to the world at large. The
department has state of the art
facilities equipped with latest
instruments, equipment and
software for imparting technical
knowledge on par with
international requirements. To develop responsible savvy
professional techo-managers, the department also offers a PG
program in Construction Engineering and Management.
Experienced and well-
qualified faculty members, well-equipped
laboratories and workshops are the strength of
this department. Advanced licensed software
includes primavera, MS- project, StaadPro,
etabs, ANSYS, and Lab view are available to
students to take up real time projects. REACH
is the department association responsible for all
co-curricular activities. The consultancy cell of
this department is active in testing the quality of
material like concrete, brick, soil, water,
bitumen, aggregate and steel reinforcement.
The department also undertakes assignment
with Govt. and private sector.

HISTORY OF THE REACH ASSOCIATION
The association REACH was
started on February 16, 2002.
Through our association we have
conducted many national and
international level conference, and
symposiums and seminars. The
association motivates the students
to develop technically on “modern
and sustainable eco-friendly
construction”.
The aim and ambitions of our
associations is, to create an environment where the students can
develop new engineering skills.
To make the students familiar with the latest
happenings and trends in construction industry
with lectures and seminars.
To enable leadership and responsibilities and
social practices for achieving sustainable
development for the students.
To promote innovative ideas, technical tools
and products for the betterment of society.
To conduct seminars, papers presentation,
workshops, competitions and cultural activities
to improve the special skills among students.

Vision of the Department: To be a renowned department for learning, research, innovation and sustainable development of
infrastructure globally
Mission of the Department:
M1 – To provide excellent planning, design experiences and innovative thinking for graduates
in Civil Engineering for life long developments
M2 – To provide research and consultancy opportunity which will be practically to meet
societal needs, by team work and self-leadership.
M3 – To provide multi-disciplinary skills of arts, science and software concerned with Civil
Engineering for sustainable infrastructural development
Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)
PEO1– Impart deep knowledge in Civil Engineering & other related areas for decision making
based on appropriate data and information.
PEO2 – Get competent requirement under diverse field & also self-employment opportunities.
PEO3 – Communicate effectively with other professionals and able to expose team work,
leadership qualities in finding solution.
PEO4 – Communicate effectively with other professionals and able to expose team work,
leadership qualities in finding solution.
PEO5– Pressure their academic activities including higher education and research with social
responsibilities.
Program Specific Outcomes (PSO)
PSO 1 – Ability to attain high proficiency in mathematics, basic sciences, technical
communication and excel in the core areas of Civil Engineering.
PSO 2 – Ability to plan, survey, prepare drawings, design, estimate and carry out construction.
PSO 2 – Ability to pursue research activities, consultancy services with critical thinking,
professional development and lifelong learning.

Various events conducted by REACH Association
SEMINAR on Job Oppurtunities
A seminar on Job opportunities for second
year students was conducted by Ecc Academy on
22nd January 2019. 42 students attended.
SEMINAR ON Total station A seminar on Total station for third year
students was conducted by Sree Krishna Institute.
Mr. Saravanan given a Technical talk about Total
station on 19th February 2019. 60 students
attended.
ALUMNI MEET2018 A department level alumni meet
was arranged on 16 February 2019. This
get together was arranged for the 2017-
2018 passed out students.
SEMINAR on Motivation Program
A seminar on motivation was conducted on 15th
March 2019.The technical talk was given by ECC
academy. 51students from UG final year of civil
department attended this seminar.

International Conference 4th April 2019
The ICASME”19 International conference was
conducted by REACH Association. The key note
speakers are Dr. Md. Abdul Mannan(University of
Malaysia Sarawak, Malaysia), Dr. J. Leon Raj
(Scientist CSIR-NEIST Jorhat,Assam), Dr. M. G.
Sethuraman (Gandhigram Rural University,
Dindugal), Dr. S. Nagarajan (Central university of
Tamilnadu, Thiruvarur. 315students attended the
program.

Jorhat,Assam),He given the Technical
