HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

The department of Physics was established along with the establishment of

the college in the year 1956 under private management. The department was

fortunate enough to have Dr. J.C. Kameshwar Rao, D.Sc. in Physics as the founder

Principal of the college in shaping the department as full fledged and well

equipped department. In the initial stages Mr. D. Natesan who worked as the head

of the department contributed very much for the development of the department.

Subsequently he became the director of the Intermediate Education, A.P. His

successor Mr. S. Vishwanadham who became the Joint Director of the Higher

Education contributed a lot for the development of the department. For the last 63

years many distinguished academicians worked in this department.

The department has built up area of 400 sq. metres consisting of Physics

lab.1, lab.2, lab.3, store room and staff room. The labs are spacious and well

equipped to cater to the needs of all students. The department is receiving funds

from various agencies like State Govt. UGC and self finance course.

1. Bridge Course: will be conducted from 1st July 2019 to 6th July 2019 for B.Sc.-I year

Physical science students

2. Student Seminar:

In the last week of July, August and September of 2019 for I,III and V Semesters . In the

last week of December-2019 and January, February of 2020. for II,IV and VI Semesters.

3. Assignments:

For I,III,V Semesters-Students has to submit their assignments by the end of October- 2019.

For II,IV,VI Semesters-Students has to submit their assignments by the end of March-2020.

4. Quiz, Elocution and Essay Writing Competitions:

For all the Students in the 4th week of February-2020.

5. Extension Lecture: In the month of October-2019/February-2020.

6. Event Celebration: C.V.Raman Birthday Celebration on 07th Nov’2019.

7. Important Days: National Science day Celebration on 28th Feb’2020.

8. Remedial Classes: For a Period of 2 weeks before semester exams. i.e., once in

October-2019 & again in March’2020.

9. Field Trip : Fourth week of December-2019.

10. Project Work : February-2020.

11. Career Guidance : First week of January-2020.

12. Special Coaching : Classes for PG Entrance test in Physics Subject will be

conducted for B.Sc-III year Students from September-2019.
