Patna Women’s College (PWC) is the first College for women in Bihar. The college has

been accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ grade for three consecutive cycles with CGPA 3.51/4 in

2010 and CGPA 3.58/4 in 2015. The college also has been accorded as ‘College with Potential

for Excellence (CPE)’ status from UGC in three phases in 2004, 2010 and 2015. The

University Grants Commission (UGC) has conferred Autonomous status to Patna Women’s

College in January, 2018 which was further notified by the Parent University (Patna

University) in July, 2018.Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) and Semester System have

been introduced in July 2018. This is the only college in the state to have taken this initiative

for UG and PG courses.

In 2013 the MCA course started in the Department of Master of Computer Applications Patna

Women’s College, with a goal to prepare students for productive careers in technological

research, software industries, banking and other related sectors. In 2015 the department got

approved by All India Council for Technical Educational (AICTE). The main aim is to

make the students competent software professionals to meet the demands of the fast growing

IT industry at the national and also at the global level. The course emphasizes the applications

of software technology to solve various scientific, commercial, networking and computing

problems. After the successful completion of this course, students could get a wide range of

jobs in various multinational companies, private sectors, government organizations, banks etc.

Application Process for Admission to MCA – 2019

Vocational Post Graduation (3 Year)

Eligibility

A candidate seeking admission to M.C.A. Course must be either of the following:

o B.C.A.

o B.Sc. in Computer Science

o Graduate (Honours) in any stream with Mathematics as a subject plus a certificate

or equivalent qualification in computing of at least one year duration from a

recognized institution.

The candidate must have secured at least 45% marks in the above graduate level qualifying

examination.

A candidate seeking admission to Semester I M.C.A. course will have to secure a proper

place in the merit list prepared on the basis of an entrance examination followed by an

interview conducted by Patna Women’s College.

The number of seats for the course approved by AICTE is 60. The reservation of seats for

the course will be as per reservation rules of the Government of Bihar.

Entrance Test

Entrance test for admission to the M.C.A. course will be a written test of 100 marks.

The written test will be of 2 hours duration. There will be 100 objective type questions,

each carrying one mark. The questions will be of Logical and Mathematical Ability,

General Awareness, Fundamentals of Computer and English. The wriiten test will be

followed by an interview for those students who qualify the written test.

The question paper will be provided in English only.

The list of the selected candidates and any other further direction will be displayed on

the Notice Board of Patna Women’s College, Patna University and on the

college website www.patnawomenscollege.in .

The admit card for the entrance examination will be given to the candidates at the time

of submission of the application form. Admit cards will not be sent separately.
