Kolhapur city

Kolhapur was the capital of Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj, the

princely ruler of Kolhapur. Now, Kolhapur has become major industrial

center with more than 200 foundries and numerous machine shops.

Kolhapur is famous for being a center of art, education, industry and sports

particularly wrestling. Kolhapur chappals are renowned for their durability,

comfort and beauty of make. It is known as “Dakshin Kashi” on account of

its deity Mahalaxmi or Ambabai. The Ambabai temple was built by the

Chalukya king karndev in 634AD.The city has pleasant climate. In and

around the city there are ancient temples, historical forts, museum, Wild life

sanctuaries, rankala lake etc. a few among other attractions.

Kolhapur is situated at an altitude of 563 m. The city is well

connected by rail, air and road. From Mumbai and Pune direct trains and

appropriate charges are 150/- per day per person in the college hostel and

Rs.350/- to 3500/-per person in hotels nearby the colleges. The

About the college The college has been rendering its service for last five decades to achieve academic excellence and the welfare of the students. The college celebrated year 2011-12 as its golden jubilee year. The college runs the professional programmes like BCS, BCA along with B.A., B.Com and B.Sc. College runs the center of B. Lib & I.Sc., YCMOU Nasik, the self financial courses, eight career oriented certificate courses and various short term and vocational courses to facilitate the need of students.

Majority of the faculty is engaged in research and completed more than 27 minor research projects funded by UGC, New Delhi. In the academic year 2011-12, the college has organized National level seminars in the subject of Chemistry, Hindi, Economics, Political Science and also on reaccreditation and third cycle of accreditation.About the Library The department of library science is established in 1961 with 100 books. At present library crossed magazine collection of over 55000 at present library subscribed 60 journals & magazine .
