Abney, MD Health Officer Local Behavioral Health Authority (LBHA) 301-609-5757 The Local Behavioral Health Authority is responsible for planning, managing, and monitoring the public behavioral health services in Charles County. The Local Behavioral Health Authority ensures that the local public behavioral health system provides quality and cost-effective services that meet the needs of individuals and families in need of behavioral health services. Through linkage and referral services for individuals across the lifespan, including individuals relocating to the area, individuals transitioning back to into the community from hospital/residential settings, and individuals transitioning back into the community from the correctional system. The Local Behavioral Health Authority works to improve access to services. Environmental Health Services 301-609-6751 The Environmental Health Division protects public health by providing a safe and healthy environment through routine and enforcement activities. Public Health Preparedness and Response Services 301-609-6761The Division of Preparedness and Response Services works to prepare for emergencies caused by infec-tious disease, bioterrorism, natural disasters, and oth-er public health threats through the development and exercise of comprehensive public health emergency preparedness and response plans. During such an event the Department of Health will:

• Conduct disease surveillance • Coordinate public health response activities • Provide emergency information, precautions, education and links to public health resources

Developmental Disabilities Services 301-609-6830The Division of Disability Services provides targeted case management to individuals with developmental disabilities of all ages. Services include:

• Access and Eligibility • Coordination of Community Services • Infants and Toddlers Services are provided to infants and toddlers, birth to three years old who may be delayed in development of have disabilities.

Mental Health Services 301-609-6700The Mental Health Program provides comprehensive mental health treatment services to clients ages 5 and above to address mental health conditions and become better informed about the causes, symptoms, and treatment of mental and emotional barriers. In doing so, we are following our agency’s mission by focusing on mental health as one of the aspects to overall health and wellness. Services include:

Substance Use Services 301-609-6600Substance Use Services is a program within the Division of Behavioral Health. Substance Use Ser-vices provides outpatient Level I and Level II.I treatment to residents of Charles County and the surrounding areas. As part of our multidisciplinary team, our staff includes Community Health Outreach Workers, Peer Recovery Specialists, Certified Addic-tions Counselors, Masters Level Clinicians, Licensed Professionals and Medical staff. Services Include:

Behavioral HealthThe newly integrated Behavioral Health Division re-ceived its Commission on Accreditation Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) certification in 2017. The division consists of two programs: Mental Health Services and Substance Use Services.

Free Overdose Response Training held every Monday. A Narcan Kit will

be provided for all participants.
