Executive Summary

We investigated the feasibility of four restaurant-style pizza locations in the Denton area.

We ordered from Roman’s Pizza, Double Dave’s, Crooked Crust, and Pizza Patron.

Because Pizza Patron offers their pizza for the cheapest price and received 5 stars in

presentation and taste. We have determined that Pizza Patron offers the best pepperoni

pizza for the price.

Introduction We ordered a medium sized pepperoni pizza as a result of our low student incomes. We

know that many students enjoy eating pizza for the taste and price for the amount of food.

We wanted to find the best location that would offer a nice place to sit down to eat while

you enjoy a pepperoni pizza. During our research, we considered four locations. These

locations are as follows:

Location 1: Ramon’s Pizza. A small family owned business located in Denton, Texas

for nearly 20 years.

Location 2: Crooked Crust. Located on Fry Street, it is conveniently located next to

many of the bars in Denton.

Location 3: Double Dave’s. A buffet style restaurant that offers an assortment of other

food choices as well.

Location 4: Pizza Patron. A sit down location that has a Hispanic-type atmosphere.

In the report that follows, we examine these locations and recommend the best option that will

allow college students to purchase quality pizza at the best price while seated comfortably.

Methods for Evaluation

To support our recommendation, we evaluated the feasibility of each location using five

criteria:

Cleanliness

Customer service

Presentation

Taste

To gather information, we conducted a series of tests.

Pricing We obtained the price of a medium sized pepperoni pizza.

Cleanliness We evaluated the cleanliness of the lobby area and bathrooms.

We looked for swept and mopped floors. Clean surfaces. Clean silverware, plates,

and cups. No spider webs in corners or heavily dusty areas.

Customer Service We noticed how long it took to be greeted or if told to have a nice day when

leaving.

We noticed if the staff was friendly and helpful.

We timed how long it took to receive our pizza after it was ordered.

Presentation We counted how many slices of pepperoni were given over the whole pizza.

We measured the amount of grease by dabbing one slice of pizza with napkins

until grease is no longer visible on the napkin.

We inspected the condition of the crust, if it was an appealing golden color.

Taste We noticed the temperature of the pizza when received.

We felt the softness or hardness of the crust.

We tasted the quality of the pizza sauce if it was balanced between sweet or salty.

Results of the Evaluation We evaluated the four options according to the criteria of price, cleanliness, customer

service, presentation, and taste.

Price Location 1, Roman’s Pizza $7.50 for a 12 inch pizza. Location 2, Double Dave’s $10 for

a 12 inch pizza. Location 3, Crooked Crust $8.50 for 10 inch pizza. Location 4 Pizza

Patron $ 7.25 for 14 inch pizza.

Cleanliness Location 1, Roman’s Pizza received 5 out of 5 stars. Location 2, Double Dave’s received

3 out of 5 stars. Location 3, Crooked Crust, received 4 out of 5 stars. Location 4, Pizza

Patron received 4 out of 5 stars.

Conclusion

Each of the four locations have advantages and disadvantages. Location 1, Roman’s

Pizza, is one of the cleanest and customer friendly places. However, location 1 had very

hot pizza when received. Location 2, Double Dave’s, were very helpful with customer

service. However, location 2 is the most expensive and the greasiest pizza. Location 3,

Crooked Crust, had a unique atmosphere and great location. However, location 3 took the

longest to receive and the crust was a little burned. Location 4, Pizza Patron, had the

cheapest and quickest time to make the pizza. Location 4, Pizza Patron’s staff appeared to

be tired and non-enthusiastic towards their customers.

Recommendation 12

Recommendations

Because location 4 (Pizza Patron) offers a medium pepperoni pizza for the cheapest price

and received 5 stars in presentation and taste, we decided Location 4 offers the best pizza

for the price. We recommend college students looking for the best value in a sit down

pizza location, should go to Pizza Patron.
