• Dental school entrants are required to have a bachelor’s degree.• Dental school is four years in length
• Dentists must pass a national examination.

*Dentist treat patients who have dental problems by examining their mouth.
*Many are employed by dental schools, health agencies, hospitals, or professionals.

*Diagnose oral problemsDentists look to see if they
find swollen gums, mouth ulcers, dry mouth and
excessive gum problems.
Most diseases include:• Diabetes• Leukemia• Oral Cancer• Pancreatic cancer• Heart disease• Kidney disease

*Fill cavitiesA filling is made to
restore a damaged tooth back to its
normal function and shape. When a
dentist fills a cavity, he first removes the
decayed tooth material, cleans the affected area, and
then fills the cleaned out cavity with a filling material.
That also helps in preventing further
tooth decay.

*Perform root canals
A root canal is performed when a
tooth is really badly decayed or
infected. The nerve and pulp are removed and the inside of the tooth
is cleaned and sealed.

*When you don’t get a root canal…
If you don’t get a root canal that
was needed then your tooth will decay and dentists will
need to remove it.

*Treat gum diseaseDentists treat gum
disease to avoid a big infection in the mouth.
They treat gingivitis and periodontitis. If you
don’t floss or brush your teeth then it will become into tarter. Which will lead to
gingivitis and if the gingivitis isn’t treated it
will lead to periodontitis.
