Additional NotesProfessionalism Professions tend to be autonomous and self-sufficient

which means having a high degree of control of ownaffairs while having freedom to exercise professional

    judgment.

As it is a trait, which can be easily enhanced, it is thussubject to self-interest and a continuous process of criticalevaluation of ethics and procedure.

As the students have been part of the university for someconsiderable time, they would be familiar with generalprinciples about its beliefs on matters such as qualitystudentship within this environment. We thus expect ourstudents to develop their professionalism even furthertogether with a high morality. Dentistry is a professionbased on such Ethical codes.

Gross violations of these formal codes are governed byUniversity laws, which delineate the procedures todetermine whether a violation of the code of ethicsoccurred and, if so, what remedies should be imposed/

This does not mean the list is complete. We encouragestudents to abide with the more sensitive approach to thisby allowing the practice of a high morality, which definesright and wrong by the society, philosophy, religion, andindividual conscience.

Students and their instructors often make ethical choicesreflexively. But ethically sensitive situations, where time, emotions and marks are pressured, it becomes all tooeasy to be blind-sided by temptation. The best antidote toethical lapses is to commit in advance to a set of ethicalprinciples - your personal ethical code that follows orgrows to it.

Any difficulty or concern during the course should bepassed directly to the course coordinator.

Makeup Exams Applicable when an acceptable and valid excuse ispresented at the appropriate time.

Absences from class are counted from the day the classmeets officially for the first time not from when thestudent officially enters.

If absent from lectures, then the course coordinator willrefer to related guidelines set by the university
