Denis Bouriakov PrincipalFluteoftheMetropolitanOpera,Denisenjoysoneofthefastestgrowingcareersinthefluteworld.Hehaswonprizesinmanyofthemostimportantinternationalcompetitions.Anastoundingtalent,Bouriakovlooksoutsidethestandardfluterepertoireforworksthatallowtheflutetoshine.

Mr.BouriakovreleasedhisfirstsoloCDin2009,whichincludestheSibeliusViolinConcertoinhisownarrangement.HehasalsorecordedtheBachConcertofor2ViolinsindminorwithflutistWilliamBennettandtheEnglishChamberOrchestra.Hisanticipated2012CD,recordedinJapan,willincludeworksbyCopland,Debussy,Boehm,JolivetandProkofiev.HehasperformedassoloistwiththeMoscowSymphonyOrchestra,theMoscowPhilharmonic,“MoscowVirtuosi”,thePragueChamberOrchestra,theEnsembleofTokyo,theOdenseSymphony,theMunichChamberOrchestra,theEnsembleofParis,andtheTamperePhilharmonic.

Mr.BouriakovwasborninCrimea(nowtheUkraine).Attheageoften,hewasgivenaplaceattheMoscowCentralSpecialMusicSchool,wherehestudiedwithProfessorY.N.Dolzhikov.Withthesupportofthe”NewNames”InternationalCharityFoundationandtheVladimirSpivakovFoundation,hetouredassoloisttoover20countriesinEurope,Asia,SouthAmerica,andtheUSA.HewentontoattendtheRoyalAcademyofMusicinLondon,studyingwithProfessorWilliamBennett(OBE).Hisgraduationin2001wasaccompaniedbythe“Principal’sAward”,thediplomaforOutstandingRecital,andtheTeachingFellowshipAwardforthefollowingyear.In2006,theAcademyawardedhimthetitleofARAM,AssociateoftheRoyalAcademyofMusic.InLondon,Bouriakovfree-lancedasprincipalflutewiththePhilharmoniaofLondon,theLondonPhiharmonic,LeedsOperaNorth,theFrankfurtRadioSymphonyandtheRussianOrchestraofLondon.

Bouriakov’sfirstpositionwasPrincipalFlutewiththeTamperePhilharmonicinFinland,wherehealsotaughtattheTampereConservatoryofMusicfor3years.In2008,hewasappointedPrincipalFlutewiththeBarcelonaSymphonyunderEijiOue.LaterthatyearhewonthePrincipalFlutepositionintheMetropolitanOperainNewYork.Alongwithhisorchestrallife,Mr.Bouriakovisveryactiveasasoloistandteacher;hisrecentengagementshaveincludedrecitalsandmasterclassesintheUSA,Japan,GreatBritain,Switzerland,Australia,SingaporeandTaiwan.

Bouriakov FormerPrincipalFluteofNewSeoulPhilharmonicOrchestra,ErinhasappearedasasoloistwiththeNewSeoulPhilharmonicOrchestraandEuro-AsianPhilharmonicOrchestraamongothers.ShehasalsobeengivingnumerousrecitalsthroughouttheUnitedStates,Europe,Canada,andAsia.AfterstudyingwithMichelDebostinOberlinConservatory,shewenttotheRoyalAcademyofMusicinLondon,whereshecompletedherPostgraduatestudieswithWilliamBennett.Erinthenpolishedherorchestraskillsatthe“AcademiadellaScala”,whereshestudiedwithLaScalaprincipalplayersandplayedasasubstituteplayerfrequently.WhilelivinginItaly,shehasalsobeenfreelancingwithotherlocalorchestras.In2006ErinhaswonthePrincipalFlutepositionoftheNewSeoulPhilharmonicorchestrain2006,andhasalsobeenteachingattheBusanArtsSchool. Attheageof17ErinhaswontheBohemianConcertoCompetitioninMichigan,followedbywinningtheMid-SouthFluteFestivalCompetitionin2002,andtheSorentinInternationalCompetitionin2003.In2005ErinwasinvitedasateachingassistantofProfessorBrunoCavalloat“FONDAZIONEMUSICALESANTACECILIA–PORTOGRUARO”inItaly.ShehasalsobeenchosenasayoungpromisingflutistoftheyearbytheItalianfluteMagazine“Falaut”.Inthepastfewyearsshehasbeenveryactiveasasoloist,orchestraplayerandateacherinEurope,AsiaandUSA,andisnowperformingfrequentlyintheMetropolitanOperaOrchestrainNewYork.

Aya Sakou AyaSakouwasborninJapan.AftergraduatingfromtheTohoGakuenSchoolofmusicwithSatokoTokumaruinTokyo,ShestudiedattheMusikHochschuleWinterthurZurichinSwitzerlandwithRussianpianistKonstantinScherbakovwheresheobtaineddiplomasinbothpianoandharpsichordperformance. Asasoloist,shehasperformedinmanyrecitalsinEuropeandJapan.ShehasbeeninvitedtoperformconcertoswiththeFontinuchamberorchestraandtheSwisschamberorchestra. Asachambermusician,sheisfrequentlyperformingwithmusiciansfromtheNHKSymphonyOrchestraandTokyoMetropolitanOrchestrainJapan,theTonhalleOrchestrainSwitzerlandandAalborgSymphonyOrchestrainDenmarkamongothers.InSingapore,sheregularlyperformswiththeSingaporeSymphonyOrchestrainorchestraandchambermusicseries.ShealsoworkasanaccompanistforSSOmusicians,festivalsandtheNanyangAcademyofFineArts.

Ringo Chan FounderandDirectoroftheHongKongFluteCentre,RingoChanhasbeenanactiveflutist,conductorforfluteorchestra,fluteeducator,conventionspeaker,arrangerandconcertorganiser. RingoreceivedhismusiceducationinCanadaandstudiedflutewiththeworld-renownedCanadianflutistRobertAitken. Since2005,hefoundedthe“FluteFantastique”concertseriesinHongKongwhichbringstogethermanyofthefinestlegendaryflutistsofourtimesforsolorecitalsandmasterclasses.TheseflutistsincludeAndrasAdorjan,RobertAitken,Pierre-YvesArtaud,WilliamBennett,EmilyBeynon,MattieuDufor,ShingenoriKudo,RobertLangevin,SusanMilan,EmmanuelPahud,AlexaStillandTrevorWye. RingofoundedthefirstfluteorchestrainHongKong-theHongKongFluteCentreFluteOrchestra,withfullinstrumentationfromthepiccolotosubcontrabassflutes.Asaresult,acollectionoffluteconcertoswithfluteorchestraaccompainmentwascreated.Ringoalsoworkscloselywiththeworld-renownedflutemakerJimPhelanindevelopinghighquality,newmodelflutestomeettheever-changingmarketforflutesandflutists.

Goh Tiong Eng“Adistinguishedandtalentedflutist”-WilliamBennett,worldrenownedsoloist Anactivepioneerontheflutescene,TiongEngfoundedthe1stflutefestivalinSingaporein2009andthe1stfluteassociationin2012.Winnerofthe1stprizeandthe“BestPerformeroftheYearAward”intheNationalMusicCompetition,TiongEngwenttoParisfora3yearsFrenchgovernmentscholarshipforflutestudy.Graduatedwiththe1stprizeinSuperiorClassandthedistinguishedPrixd’Excellencein1987,heperformedfulltimewiththeSingaporeSymphonyOrchestraandwasteachingattheLaSalleCollegeofMusic.In1993,TiongEngwenttoLondontostudywiththeworld-renownedsoloistWilliamBennettattheRoyalAcademyofMusic,whereheobtainedtheLRAMandtheMasterofMusicdegree. After15yearsofprofessionalorchestralplaying,TiongEngisnowfocusingonperformingsoloandchambermusic.HisotherpassionsincludesteachingthenextgenerationincorporatingthebestmethodsofboththeFrenchandtheBritishschoolsoffluteplaying.TiongEnghadreleased2soloCDrecordings,aFrenchcollectionwiththeharpandaromanticalbumwiththepiano.HehasalsorecordedsomeCDsundertheCCMlabel.

Roberto Alvarez “Hot-BloodedSpanishFlair!”“(His)consummateartistry...keepstheaudiencespell-bound” BorninAsturias,Spain,RobertostudiedunderMyraandPeterPearse,fromtheAsturiasSymphonyOrchestra.HeprogressedtotheRoyalNorthernCollegeofMusic,Manchester,studiedunderRichardDavis,PeterLloydandPatriciaMorris.Heshowshisinterestnotonlyinclassicalformations,buthasalsoparticipatedinseveraljazzandfolkgroups,andhasperformedalloverEurope. Roberto’spassionforperformingnewmusichasledhimtorecordLaNochewithharpistKatrynaTan.InthisCDheshowshisartistryperformingpiecesespeciallywrittenforhimbycomposersfromSpainandSingapore.Inadditiontohisperformancesheisanenthusiasticteacher,havinggivenmasterclassesintheAsturiasYouthOrchestra,SingaporeYouthOrchestraandseveralconservatories.HecurrentlyteachesattheSchooloftheArtsandLasalleSchoolofContemporaryArt.heisthePiccoloSoloistatSingaporeSymphonyOrchestrasinceJuly2007.

Cheryl Lim CurrentlyaDoctorofMusicalArts(DMA)studentatthePeabodyInstituteoftheJohnsHopkinsUniversity,andanewfacultymemberatSota.CherylreceivedherMastersdegreefromtheManhattanSchoolofMusicandherBachelorsdegreewith1stclassHonoursfromtheYongSiewTohConservatoryofMusic.HerprincipalteachersincludeMarinaPiccinini,MichaelParloffandJinTa. Cherylhaswonthe2ndprizeatthe2011CentralOhioFluteAssociationYoungArtistCompetitionand2ndprizeatthe2010AlexanderandBuonoInternationalFluteCompetition.ShehasperformedasprincipalfluteoftheSingaporeFestivalOrchestra,OrchestraoftheMusicMakers(OMM),SingaporeLyricOperaandtheSingaporeNationalYouthOrchestra(SNYO).
