The danger of the warrior gene hypothesis is that if it were true then any violent behaviours exhibited by Māori could be ascribed by the uninformed to this gene in the same way that the abnormal behaviours of patients with say Brunner syndrome or Norrie disease have been blamed on abnormities in their MAO genes (Hook, 2009).
