GENERAL NOTES
1. EPA MINIMUM RECOVERED CONTENT PERCENTAGES FOR VARIOUS MATERIALS ARE GIVEN IN THE ACCOMPANYING
SCOPE OF WORK AND SUPPLEMENTAL GENERAL REQUIREMENTS. THE CONTRACTOR’S BID SUBMITTAL IS EXPECTED TO
INCLUDE ALL THE NEEDED PAPERWORK TO SUPPORT COMPLIANCE WITH THESE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DESIGNATED
MATERIALS WHICH WILL BE USED IN THIS PROJECT. IF THERE ARE SPECIFIC MATERIALS SPECIFIED WITHIN THESE
DOCUMENTS THAT WILL NOT COMPLY WITH THESE "GREEN PROCUREMENT REQUIREMENTS", YOU MUST NOTIFY THE
GOVERNMENT IN YOUR BID SUBMITTAL PACKAGE.
2. THESE NOTES ARE APPLICABLE TO THE CONTRACTOR AND ITS SUBCONTRACTORS ON THIS PROJECT AND IT SHALL
BE THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THAT EACH OF THEIR BIDS IS IN COMPLIANCE AND AGREEMENT WITH THE
REQUIREMENTS OF THESE DOCUMENTS. THE CONTRACTOR WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ENSURING THAT ALL OF IT’S
SUBCONTRACTORS ARE FULLY INFORMED. THE CONTRACTOR HEREBY WARRANTS THAT ITS PROPERLY LICENSED,
INSURED, EXPERIENCED AND QUALIFIED TO PERFORM ITS RESPECTIVE DUTIES.
3. THE PROJECT IS LOCATED WITHIN THE JURISDICTION OF MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, TAMPA, FL. AND FALLS
UNDER THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE 2006 INTERNATIONAL BUILDING CODE, D.O.D. UFC’S, APPLICABLE GOVERNMENT
REGULATIONS AND ALL RELATED/ REFERENCED DOCUMENTS.
4. THESE DRAWINGS ARE SOMEWHAT DIAGRAMMATIC, AND ARE NOT INTENDED TO DEPICT EVERY DETAIL,
CONDITION, PIECE OF MATERIAL OR HARDWARE THAT EXISTS ON THE PROJECT. THEY SHOULD NOT BE SCALED FOR
DIMENSIONS. THE EXPERIENCE AND CONSTRUCTION KNOWLEDGE OF THE CONTRACTOR, DESIGNERS, AND JOBSITE
PERSONNEL MUST BE EXTENSIVE ENOUGH TO PROPERLY EVALUATE THE EXTENT OF WORK NECESSARY AND TO PERFORM
THE WORK IN ORDER TO RESULT IN A COMPLETE, WEATHER PROOF, FULLY FUNCTIONING, FINISHED PROJECT. THE
CONTRACTOR WILL BE EXPECTED TO ENSURE THE COMPREHENSIVENESS OF THEIR BID AND TO ACCOUNT FOR ANY LACK,
OR SHORTCOMINGS IN THE BIDS FROM THOSE ENTITIES UPON WHICH THEY WILL RELY TO PERFORM THE WORK. NEW
WORK WILL NEED TO BE ADJUSTED AS NECESSARY TO RESULT IN PROPER POSITIONING WITH RELATION TO EXISTING
CONDITIONS AND ELEMENTS AS WELL AS TO MAINTAIN COMPLIANCE WITH THE VARIOUS APPLICABLE CODES.
5. THE CONTRACTOR BY SUBMISSION OF ITS BID, ACKNOWLEDGES THAT HE HAS VISITED THE SITE OF THE
PROPOSED WORK AND THOROUGHLY FAMILIARIZED HIMSELF WITH THE NATURE AND EXTENT OF THE WORK TO BE DONE
AND IS CAPABLE OF PROVIDING THE FINAL DESIGN, AND LABOR, SUPERVISION, INSURANCES, COORDINATION, WORKER
DISCIPLINE AND CONTROL, SCHEDULING, EQUIPMENT, MATERIALS, SAFETY PROCEDURES, MEANS AND METHODS
REQUIRED TO RESULT IN A COMPREHENSIVE, COMPLETE, FUNCTIONING AND FINISHED PROJECT.
6. THOSE ITEMS REASONABLY INFERRED BY THESE DOCUMENTS, READILY APPARENT BY A THOROUGH SITE
INSPECTION AND / OR CUSTOMARILY REQUIRED FOR A PROJECT OF THIS SIZE AND TYPE WILL BE ASSUMED TO

7. ALL TRADES / WORKERS ARE EXPECTED TO COORDINATE THEIR WORK WITH THE OTHER TRADES / WORKERS
THROUGH THE CONTRACTOR. IN ORDER TO ENSURE PROPER SEQUENCING, PROPER TEMPORARY MEASURES,
PROPER SUPPORT FRAMING, PROPER MANPOWER, PROPER SURFACE PREPARATION FOR THE VARIOUS FINISHES AND
MATERIALS, THEREBY MINIMIZING CONFLICTS, DELAYS AND REWORK.
8. THE CONTRACTOR MUST TAKE ALL NECESSARY STEPS THROUGHOUT THE DURATION OF THE PROJECT TO PROPERLY
BARRICADE, WEATHERPROOF, SECURE THE PROJECT AS WELL AS PERFORM DAILY CLEAN-UP. ALL
CONSTRUCTION RELATED DEBRIS MUST BE PROPERLY DISPOSED OF OFF SITE.
9. UNLESS SPECIFIED OTHERWISE, ALL MATERIALS FOR THIS PROJECT SHALL BE NEW AND SHALL BEAR
UNDERWRITERS LABELS WHEN APPLICABLE.
10. IF MATERIALS, QUANTITIES, SIZES, GRADES, STRENGTHS CALLED FOR WITHIN THESE DOCUMENTS ARE IN
CONFLICT OR DO NOT AGREE CONSISTENTLY, THE BETTER, GREATER, LARGER QUANTITY OR HIGHER
QUALITY SHALL BE PROVIDED. ANY SUCH CONFLICTS SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION, IN WRITING, OF
THE GOVERNMENT IMMEDIATELY UPON DISCOVERY.
11. UNACCEPTABLE WORK MUST BE REMOVED AND REDONE AT THE CONTRACTORS EXPENSE.
12. THE CONTRACTOR MUST PROVIDE COMPLETE SPECIFICATIONS AND ENGINEERING DATA FOR ANY PROPOSED
SUBSTITUTIONS, ALONG WITH ITS BID, IN ORDER FOR THE SUBSTITUTION TO BE CONSIDERED. REASON FOR THE
SUBSTITUTION MUST ALSO BE CLEARLY STATED AS WELL AS ANY COST DIFFERENTIAL.
THE INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THESE PLANS IS SCHEMATIC AND BASED ON AVAILABLE AS-BUILT INFORMATION.
THESE PLANS ARE NOT DETAILED FINAL DESIGNS, UNLESS NOTED AS 100%. FIELD VERIFICATION OF ALL EXISTING
UTILITIES AND FEATURES MUST BE PERFORMED PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION START.
THE GOVERNMENT, AKIMA, AND IT’S SUBCONTRACTORS HAVE NO LIABILITY OR RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE INFORMATION

13. UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE, NEW MATERIALS, SUBSTRATES, FINISHES ARE EXPECTED TO MATCH THE EXISTING
TO WHICH THEY ARE ADJACENT OR JUXTAPOSED TO, WITH APPROPRIATE TRANSITIONS TO MAINTAIN CONTINUITY
AND INTEGRITY OF THE MATERIAL AND / OR SYSTEM.
14. THE CONTRACTOR AND ITS SUBCONTRACTORS ARE EXPECTED TO BE KNOWLEDGEABLE IN THEIR TRADES AND WELL

11. PROVIDE TOP SOIL FILL TO COVER THE DEMOLITION AREA, GRADE SITE TO DRAIN, AND
SOD DISTURBED AREAS. GRADE THE SITE TO POSITIVELY DRAIN AND SLOPE TO THE
ADJACENT STORMWATER COLLECTION SYSTEM. NO PONDING OF STORMWATER WILL BE
PERMITTED.
12. IRRIGATION (IF PRESENT):
* FIELD VERIFY THE IRRIGATION ZONES AFFECTED BY THE DEMOLITION OF THE BUILDING.
ISOLATE THE ZONES THAT WILL BE DISTURBED BY THE DEMOLITION AND REMOVE THE
PIPING TO THE EXTENT PRACTICAL. CUT THE PIPING AT THE SOLENOID VALVE CONTROLS
AND CAP PIPING THAT IS TO REMAIN.
* FOLLOWING THE DEMOLITION VERIFY THAT THE IRRIGATION SYSTEM THAT WAS TO
REMAIN STILL OPERATES PROPERLY. MAKE REPAIRS AS NECESSARY.
* IRRIGATE THE SOD FOR A PREIOD OF 6 WEEKS EITHER USING A TEMPRARY IRRIGATION
SYSTEM OR BY MANUAL PERIODIC IRRIGATION.
13. SOD ALL AREAS DISTURBED WITH ARGENTINE BAHIA SOD. THE SOD SHALL BE GRADUALLY
CUT INTO THE EXISTING GRADE SO THAT THE SURFACE TRANSITION BETWEEN THE EXISTING
AND THE NEW SOD MATCH.
14. THE LOCATION OF UTILITY TERMINATIONS WILL BE ACCURATELY SHOWN ON THE FINAL
AS-BUILT DRAWINGS. FINAL AS-BUILT DRAWINGS WILL BE TURNED OVER TO AKIMA AT THE
COMPLETION OF THE DEMOLITION WORK.

DEMOLITION NOTES
1. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL INSTALL A SILT FENCE (FDOT DESIGN STANDARDS,
INDEX 102) AND CONSTRUCTION FENCE AROUND THE CONSTRUCTION PRIOR
TO PROCEEDING WITH ANY OF THE DEMOLITION WORK.
2. THE DEMOLITION SHALL PROCEED IN A MANOR THAT WILL MINIMIZE NOISE
AND DUST. THE DUST SHALL BE MINIMIZED WITH THE USE OF WATER SPRAY
OR OTHER APPROVED METHOD.
3. THE BUILDING POTENTIALLY MAY HAVE ASBESTOS CONTAINING BUILDING
MATERIALS (ACBM), AND/OR LEAD BASED PAINT. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
THOROUGHLY REVIEW THE COMPREHENSIVE ASBESTOS INVESTIGATION
REPORT BEFORE SUBMITTING HIS BID. THE CONTRACTOR’S BID SHALL
INCLUDE COMPLETE ABATEMENT AND DISPOSAL WORK OF THE ACBMS.
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL HIRE AN ENVIRONMENTAL ABATEMENT
CONTRACTOR TO REMOVE AND DISPOSE OF THE ACBMS. THE CONTRACTOR
SHALL HIRE AN INDEPENDENT CONSULTING FIRM TO PERFORM ENVIRON-
MENTAL MONITORING SERVICES DURING THE ABATEMENT WORK. THE
MONITORING AND ABATEMENT WORK SHALL BE PERFORMED IN STRICT
COMPLIANCE WITH MILITARY, EPA, AND OTHER APPLICABLE ENVIRONMENTAL
REGULATIONS. WASTE DISPOSAL MANIFEST RECORDS SHALL BE TURNED OVER
TO AKIMA AT THE COMPLETION OF THE DEMOLITION WORK.
4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COMPLETE AND SUBMIT THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT
OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION FORM ENTITLED "NOTICE OF ASBESTOS
RENOVATION OR DEMOLITION" AND PAY ALL OF THE ASSOCIATED SUBMISSION
FEES.
5. COPIES OF AVAILABLE RECORD DRAWINGS, IF AVAILABLE, CAN BE PROVIDED
AS AN INDICATION OF EXISTING CONDITIONS.
6. REMOVAL OF UTILITY SERVICES (WHERE PRESENT):
* THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE WITH AKIMA AND FGUA SHOPS
BEFORE PERFORMING UTILITY TERMINATIONS.
* THE UNDERGROUND UTILITIES ARE SHOWN TO THE BEST INFORMATION
AVAILABLE. FIELD VERIFICATION BY THE CONTRACTOR WILL BE REQUIRED.
* THE CONTRACTOR IS REQUIRED TO FIELD VERIFY ACTUAL LOCATIONS OF
UTILITIES, AND PROCEED WITH DISCONNECTION OF SERVICES AS REQUIRED
TO MEET FIELD CONDITIONS.
* REMOVE THE SANITARY SEWER SERVICE LATERAL AT THE GRAVITY SEWER
CONNECTION AND PLUG CONNECTION IN ACCORDANCE WITH STANDARD
PRACTICE.
* REMOVE, CAP, AND TERMINATE THE POTABLE WATER AND NATURAL GAS
PIPING SERVICES AT THE SUPPLY MAINS.
* REMOVE THE ELECTRICAL POWER CONNECTION BACK TO THE MAIN OVERHEAD
DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM. AKIMA WILL DISCONNECT THE ELECTRICAL POWER AT
THE POLE.
* MACDILL AFB COMM WILL REQUIRE 30 DAYS NOTICE TO ALLOW THEM TO
REMOVE THEIR EQUIPMENT. ANY EQUIPMENT REMAINING AFTER THE 30 DAYS
NOTICE WILL BECOME THE PROPERTY OF THE CONTRACTOR AND WILL BE
REMOVED AND DISPOSED IN ACCORDANCE WITH STANDARD PRACTICE.
THE REMAINING CONNECTION TO THE MACDILL AFB SYSTEM WILL BE REMOVED
BY A QUALIFIED CONTRACTOR THROUGH COORDINATION WITH COMM.
* COORDINATE WITH THE CATV VENDOR (BRIGHTHOUSE) AND THE TELEPHONE
VENDOR (VERIZON) PRIOR TO START OF AND DEMOLITION SO THAT THEY CAN
REMOVE THEIR EQUIPMENT AND CONNECTION TO THE DORMITORY.
* DISCONNECT AND REMOVE THE IRRIGATION SYSTEM TO THE EXTENT PRACTICAL
WERE NOT REQUIRED TO BE UTILIZED AS PART OF THE PROJECT PERMANENT
IRRIGATION SYSTEM.
7. DEMOLISH THE EXISTING BUILDING, AS SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS, RELATED
DRAWING INSTRUCTIONS, TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION SECTION 02060, AND THESE
SPECIFICATIONS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DEMOLISH AND DISPOSE OF ALL
STRUCTURAL, ARCHITECTURAL, MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL BUILDING COMPONENTS
8. THE DEMOLITION WILL INCLUDE THE STRUCTURE AND FOUNDATION. REMOVE

OF THE EXISTING CONCRETE APRON PAVEMENT.
4. CAREFULLY REMOVE THE BUILDING STRUCTURE AND
ANY CONCRETE BUILDING SLAB MATERIAL SO THAT
THE EXISTING APRON SLAB WILL RECEIVE MINIMUM
DAMAGE.
5. CUT ANY PROTRUDING STEEL, ANCHORS, UTILITIES,
ETC. TO AT LEAST 2-INCHES BELOW THE APRON
CONCRETE.
6. PATCH ANY DAMAGE TO THE EXISTING CONCRETE
APRON SLAB SURFACE WITH AN EPOXY MORTAR
APPROVED FOR CONCRETE REPAIR. AS A MINIMUM
THE MORTAR SHALL BE OF MATERIAL LISTED ON THE

7. RE-CUT, CLEAN AND RESEAL ALL CONCRETE JOINTS

SALVAGE THE EXISTING TRANSFORMER AND
TRANSPORT IT TO A LOCATION TO BE
DESIGNATED WITHIN THE LIMITS OF
MACDILL AFB.
THE LOCATION OF THE "COMM" LINE
SHOWN IS UNCERTAIN.
DISCONNECT THE WATER SERVICE AT THE
WATER MAIN. INSTALL A PLUG AT THE
MAIN. THE CORPORATION STOP IF PRESENT
MAY REMAIN.
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COMPLETE FGUA
UTILITY TERMINATION REQUEST FORM AND
PAY ASSOCIATED FEES
ABANDON THE PIPE. THE DUCT UNDER THE
PAVEMENT MAY REMAIN. ANY PIPE OR
DUCT 3-INCHES AND LARGER SHALL BE
GROUTED.
REMOVE DRYWELL AND BACK FILL
REMOVE OVERHEAD UTILITY CONNECTIONS
