Comments from Patients and Carers

• I don’t know what happens in the consultation

• Not all staff are approachable• There is stigma around this

diagnosis• As a carer I don’t feel valued and

it is hard to know where to access help

• Signage• Receptionist forgetting to tell

carers about appointments

• Anticipatory care not in place• Long waiting times in reception is

difficult for carer when accompanied by a person with dementia

Patient and Carer Quotes

• It is a relief to be able to make an appointment with the same doctor and know I don’t have to negotiate this

• The GP was wearing a dementia friends badge and so I approached her with my concerns about my sister and mother

• If mum comes to the surgery on her own and I send a note I always get feedback from the health worker she has seen

• This was a shock, she didn’t consider herself a carer, she didn’t want to be a carer, she wanted to be his wife
