plan, describing exactly how the parts will beloaded, clamped, welded and unloaded. Theuser can easily and accurately validate andanalyze the manufacturing process throughphysically based simulations of the resources.Once the workcell model is defined and validatedit becomes the starting point for the next step inthe process—controls programming. Intuitive Programming

V5 ROBOTICS has an easy-to-learn and easy-to-use graphical programming paradigm to teachand sequence robots and associated tooling. Thisinterface allows programmers to visualize andedit many aspects of therobot program directlyin the 3D view. Forexample, users canchange the robot poseby directly moving therobot joints by draggingthem with the mouse orthey can modify theTCP position orientationdirectly by using a 6degree of freedom“compass” widget in the3D model. Robot targetpoints, the sequence ofpoints, I/O signals, andeven tooling actions per-formed at the points can also be displayed andmodified in the 3D window without having touse text or dialog boxes. This novel use of 3D-direct manipulation in a Windows standard user

interface dramatically shortens the learning curveand improves the user's efficiency.
