There is a very thin difference between reacting and responding. Yet, in practice, if we analyse the differ-ence is not slight but too huge.

How do we take note of every situation, whether at work or home?

Reaction:

Several times our reactions carry more weightage than our response. Reaction is always sporadic and emotional. We lose control of the situation. It definitely would turn worse. We may be right; however, very often our reaction to certain things seems to be defensive. The upside may be passion, but our passion needs to be centered on purpose, not an unexpected, unproductive stimulus.

Respond:

On the other side, the flip side is respond. Responding is being thoughtful, understanding, and it contains reasoning. Responding changes, the direction of any interaction. It clears the obstacles of disagreement. Responding is a conscious choice we make, whereas reaction is instinctual.

To understand the difference between reacting and responding, below is Sundar Pichai’s, CEO Google, ‘Cockroach Theory ‘that will definitely teach us this difference.

“At a restaurant, a cockroach flew from somewhere and sat on a lady. I wondered if this was the cockroach’s response to all the glory that was spoken about it! She started screaming out of fear. With panic stricken face and trembling voice, she started jumping, with both her hands desperately trying to get rid of the cockroach. Her reaction was contagious, as everyone in her group got cranky to what was happening.

The lady finally managed to push the cockroach to another lady in the group. Now, it was the turn of the other lady in the group to continue the drama. The waiter rushed forward to their rescue. In the relay of throwing, the cockroach next fell upon the waiter. The waiter stood firm, composed himself and observed the behaviour of the cockroach on his shirt. When he was confident enough, he grabbed and threw it out with his fingers.

Sipping my coffee and watching the amusement, the antenna of my mind picked up a few thoughts and started wondering, was the cockroach responsible for their histrionic behaviour? If so, then why was the waiter not disturbed? He handled it near to perfection, without any chaos. It is not the cockroach, but the inability of this lady to handle the disturbance caused by the cockroach that disturbed the other ladies too.

I realized even in my case then, it is not the shouting of my father or my boss that disturbs me, but it’s my inability to handle the disturbances caused by their shouting that disturbs me.

It’s not the traffic jams on the road that disturbs me, but my inability to handle the disturbance caused by the traffic jam that disturbs me.

More than the problem, it’s my reaction to the problem that hurts me.

Many lessons can be learnt from this story; however, the most important one is to learn to not react but to respond. The women in the story reacted, whereas the waiter responded.

Reactions are always instinctive whereas responses are always intellectual.

“When you REACT, you are giving away your power. When you RESPOND, you are staying in control of yourself.”

- Life coach Bob Proctor

Reactions are always instinctive whereas responses are always intellectual.

HOW CAN CORPORATE CULTURE PLAY A SIGNIFICANT ROLE IN A COMPANY’S PROGRESS

A culture is defined as the place to achieve success, more sort of the best place to work from. The Culture of a compa-ny is the best measure to assume its success rate. In other words, infrastructure is the body while culture is the soul of the company. It is proving as a “must-have” rather than “nice-to-have”.

As the leaders and employees will change, culture is the only factor that remains constant without any external dependen-cy and ensures a long term success.

The definition of a successful culture is that it attracts and retains the smarter as well as hardworking people and boost up the teamwork that comprises and supports a leader-em-ployee relationship.

Significant aspects of good culture: -

Good culture attracts and retains experts

The companies with the strongest cultures have much lower turnover rates than others. And less turnover equates to time and money saved. Another important aspect is to contribute happiness among the employees. Happy employees give more productive and useful work. According to a famous clinical psychologist, Dr. Noelle Nelson, when employees feel that the company takes their interest to heart, then only the employees will take company’s interest to heart.

Values

It is wrongly assumed that the key to a good corporate culture is to offer more perks and free food , but a good culture needs much more than this. The main aspect to create a good culture is to have same mission. For exam-ple, if you are working for rehabilitation services, then the mission is to improve lives and it should be same for all employees. Having a common mission and shared vision will lead employees working for the common goal and succeed.

Innovation is the key to a great culture as it blooms the creativity of the employee which is beneficial to the compa-ny itself. For example, Google inspires its employees to give 20% of their working time on their own projects which are beneficial to company. Thus, moral is to boost up the innova-tor in the employees is propitious for the company only.

If a company is having strong and powerful culture, then the chances of internal politics will be reduced to consider-able extent. And a mission with more efficient decision making processes will be regulated.

A good culture promotes apparent modules that are easy to execute, leading the organization to achieve the goals fast.

It encourages open communication that helps various cells and employees work and communicate towards the better-ment and growth of an organization.

Develop a culture desk

A culture desk is a series of slides having short phrases, images or examples that defines and illustrates your culture. It is the responsibility of every business developer to make the unique slide show and pass it to everyone in your team.

Stick to your values, strictly

Every firm is unique in its own way. What works for you may not work for others. Be unique to your values, and develop the culture model that promotes your mission and development. Hire the employees that fit in your culture model. While hiring the employees, consider new hire cultural compatibility and sustain its positive traits on other ongoing culture rules.

Identify those who live your culture

If culture matters to the company’s success then publicize it often and recognize those teams, individuals or units that perfectly demonstrates your culture.

Attitude= Culture

Ever wondered why MBA pass outs can create the compa-ny culture that drives organization to success? Culture is all about attitude than attractive perks and paid vacations. A successful company not only offers good perks but also promotes good perks. Thus, develop an attitude suitable for your company’s growth and implement it to flourish your business.

91% respondents say that companies with a strong sense of culture have powerful financial performance.

91% respondents say that companies with a corporate culture attain a strong brand impact and stood higher than others.

94% says that they have strong customer satisfaction.

79% says that a strong culture gives a strong employee satisfaction.

Follow wordpress coding standards. For reference, visit – https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Coding_Standards

Ensure that classes & functions have a unique name. This can be achieved by using a prefix.

Do not hardcode the WordPress database table prefix (usually “wp_”) into the Plugins. Be sure to use the $wpdb->prefix variable instead.

Minimize the amount of writing you do to the database – prepare the code first of all, then go ahead with the inserts/updates.

Use WordPress’ APIs instead of using direct SQL where possible. For example, use get_posts() or new WP_Query() instead of SELECT * FROM {$wpdb->prefix}_posts.

Where possible use the existing database tables, rather than creating new ones. The majority of plugins can be created using the existing tables.

SELECT only what you need. Even though databases fetch data blindingly fast, you should still try to reduce the load on the database by only selecting that data which you need to use. If you need to count the number of rows in a table don’t SELECT * FROM, because all the data in all the rows will be pulled, wasting memory. Likewise, if you only need the post_id and the post_au-thor in your Plugin, then just SELECT those specific fields, to minimize database load.

Remember: Hundreds of other processes may be hitting the database at the same time. The database and server each have so many resources to spread around amongst all those processes. Learning how to minimize your Plugin’s hit against the database will ensure that the Plugin isn’t the one that is blamed for abuse of resources.

Develop in debug mode so that errors can be spotted and fixed before release. You can do so by adding ‘define('WP_DEBUG', true)' to the 'wp-config.php' file.;

Use wp_enqueue_style() and wp_enqueue_script() to add stylesheets and scripts to a plugin – this prevents scripts from being loaded multiple times.

Refer these links below to know more about wp_enqueue_style() and wp_enqueue_script()---->

https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/functions/wp_enqueue_style/

https://developer.wordpress.org/reference/functions/wp_enqueue_script/

The first thing you need to do is to create a folder to store the plugin. Go to the wp-content/plugins/ directory in your WordPress installation and create a folder called atlas-hello-word. Keep in mind that whatever you name your plugin’s folder will be your plugin’s slug.

A plugin slug should be unique throughout the WordPress Plugin Repository if you want to upload it and make it publicly available. What this means is that no other plugin created by anyone else should have this slug. You can search for existing plugin slugs easily, just use Google!

Keep in mind that the plugin’s name is not necessarily the same as its slug. Take a look at the iThemes Security plugin. The last bit of the URL is the slug: better-wp-security. The name of the plugin, however, is iThemes Security.

If you’re just making a plugin for yourself it is still important to make sure slugs don’t clash. During the lifetime of your website you will probably use a number of plugins and you don’t want one to accidentally clash with yours and cause problems on your site because of naming conflict.

Now that you have your atlas-hello-word folder, create a new file inside and name it atlas-hello-word.php. This will be your main plugin file and its name should be the same as your plugin’s slug, with the PHP extension tacked on.

WORDPRESS PLUGIN DEVELOPMENTGUIDE FOR BEGINNERS

Plugins defined as PHP scripts(code) that alter your website – basically, they are bits (or even lots!) of code that can be upload-ed to the WordPress install to extend and expand the functionality of your site, without hacking the core code.

WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress.

Before we start developing our own code, let's have a look over the best practices.

WordPress does use the data within it to output the plugin’s name and some other data in the Plugins section of the backend. I’ve tailored this to my own website, so be sure to modify the plugin author and other strings as you see fit.

Open your plugin’s main file and paste in the following code:Output

Docker is an open platform to build, ship and run distributed applications anywhere. The software will also always run the same, regardless of its environment.

Docker Client: - Is the form of the Docker binary and primary user interface of Docker. It accepts commands from the user and communicates back and forth with a Docker daemon.

Docker Daemon: - As per the diagram above, the Docker daemon runs on a host machine. The user can not directly interact with the daemon; interaction can be done only through Docker client.

Docker Index: - Is a centralized registry allowing to take the backup of Docker container images with public and private access permissions.

Docker Containers: - Similar to a directory. A Docker container holds everything that is needed for an application to run. Each container is created from a Docker image. Docker containers can be run, started, stopped, moved, and deleted. Each container is an isolated one and secure application platform. Docker containers follows the run component of Docker.

Docker Images: -These are read-only templates. For example, an image could contain an Ubuntu operating system with Apache and your web application installed. Images are used to create Docker containers. Docker provides a simple way to build new images or update existing images, or you can download Docker images that other people have already created. Docker images are the build component of Docker.

Docker File: - A file having the instructions that help automate image creation. We can make a Docker image and share it on the Docker HUB, for that, Docker files are the main tool to achieve this. We're going to see how we can configure our own image and make it suitable for our requirements. You can check the documenta-tion for the list of available commands.
