September, 2012 and the results will be declared on Saturday, the 13th October, 2012. 2. THE RESULTS OF CLASSES X & XII (CBSE) were declared in the month of May, 2012. The total

number of students who appeared for the AISSE (class X) was 426 out of which 97.89% students scored above 60.8% (aggregate indicative %age) and 134 students scored CGPA 10 (indicative %age 95). In AISSCE (class XII), the total number of students who appeared was 414 out of which 98.55% secured above 60%. Srijan Khandelwal of Science Stream topped the school with 96.6% aggregate marks. In the Commerce Group, Sukriti Singh topped the school with a score of 94.4%.

3. COMPETITIVE EXAMINATIONS, 2012:

Engineering Group: The total no. of students appeared (with Physics, Chemistry & Maths group) in Class XII examination conducted by the CBSE was 337. JEE: A phenomenal number of 32 students qualified this prestigious examination from the 2012 batch along with 5 students from the previous batch. AIEEE: 135 students qualified in B.E./B.Tech. and 44 students in B.Arch for the central counselling. In B.E./B.Tech. in All India Ranking Jyotirmayee Sabat (AIR 1495), Pulkit Arya (AIR 1786) & Lavya Garg (AIR 1915) got State Ranks 5, 8 & 12 respectively. VITEE: 26 students qualified for admission through this examination. CG PET: A total of 80 students qualified in the CG PET 2012. Out of these 2 students got ranks within top 10 i.e. Rahul Singh Katoch (5) and Aabhas Majumdar (8). MEDICAL GROUP: The total no. of students appeared (with Physics, Chemistry & Bio group) in Class XII examination conducted by the CBSE was 43. CBSE PMT: Nikhil Dhimol e AIR 953 and Srijan Khandelwal AIR 1105 alongwith Karan Singh AIR

2576 of the previous batch qualified this examination. CG PMT : A total of 21 students qualified in this examination for counselling with Nobal Chandrakar of 2010 batch being ranked 7. KVPY: 8 students from Class XI and 6 students from Class XII qualified to receive this prestigious scholarship.

4. Achievements: (a) In the nationally acclaimed scholarship examination NTSE, conducted at the National Level by

NCERT, Fourteen students of Delhi Public School, Bhilai have won accolades by qualifying in the final phase. The successful students are: Aayush Kumar Mandal, Abhinaba Bala, Dhanishtha Singh, Josika Kar, Karthik Vignesh, Kshitij Ukey, Pushpak Roy, Rituparna Samantaray, S. Akhilesh, Shashwat Banchhor, Shreyas Shrivastava, Shriharipriya, Srishti Kotnis & Vaibhav Sahu. These students will receive an amount of ` 500/- per month each towards scholarship from Class IX onwards

(irrespective of the class/course) except for Ph.D. wherein it is paid as per UGC norms. The scholarships are awarded to the candidates for pursuing courses in sciences and social sciences up to doctoral level and in professional courses like medicine and engineering up to post graduate level.

: 2 : (b) Principal - DPS Bhilai and Four Senior Members of the Faculty felicitated by Science Olympiad

Foundation: It is a matter of great pride and honour that the Principal, Mr. M.P. Yadav was awarded the Best Principal Award – International Category by the Science Olympiad Foundation at a glittering State Level Awards Function at the Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University Auditorium on 29th July, 2012. The Award included a Cash Prize of Rs. 25,000/-, a Trophy and a Citation. Over 20,000 schools from more than 1000 cities and 14 countries registered to participate in the acclaimed Olympiad exams and competed for this category of awards, out of which ten Principals were finally chosen for this honour.

In the same function, Vice Principal, Mr. Binod Kumar and Sr. Mistress, Mrs. Mousami Roy were also awarded as Best Coordinators at the International Level in the 5th International Mathematics Olympiad and 14th National Science Olympiad respectively and received a Cash award of Rs. 10,000/- each. Vice Principal, Mrs. Ranjana Yadav and HOD-Computer Science, Mr. A.H. Zunjani were awarded as Best Coordinators at State Level in the 2nd International English Olympiad and 11th National Cyber Olympiad respectively and received a Cash award of Rs. 5000/- each. DPS Bhilai is the only institution in the entire country to bag awards in all the five categories.

(c) Civil Service Qualifier: Our old student Ritesh Agrawal of 2002 batch qualified I.A.S. 2012 batch (AIR 70).

(d) Metals & Material Quiz, 2012: The Indian Institute of Metals, Bhilai Chapter, had organised the

Metals & Material Quiz-2012 competition in the HRD Centre, BTI, Bhilai Steel Plant on 25th August, 2012. Three teams from the school took part. Of a total of 31 participating teams, 1st, 2nd & 3rd positions were bagged by the school. The first two teams will participate in the prestigious International Level Prof. Brahm Prakash Memorial Materials Quiz-2012 to be organised by IIM, Kalpakkam Chapter at Kalpakkam on 15th September, 2012.

(e) Inter-DPS Quiz-2012 for Zone 5 Schools: In the Inter-DPS Quiz-2012 (Classes VI-VIII) organized by

DPS Secunderabad on 14th July, 2012 under the aegis of the Delhi Public School Society, New Delhi, DPS Bhilai bagged the Runners-up Trophy. The participants Swasti Shreya Mishra and C. Venkatesh of Class VIII received Certificate, Prizes and Trophy. Mr. Suman Kumar Tripathi the guide teacher also received a Certificate. They will be competing in the Finals to be held at DPS, Vidyut Nagar on 5th October, 2012.

(f) Inter-DPS Dance Festival-2012 for Zone 5 Schools: In the Inter-DPS Dance Festival-2012 organized by

DPS Durg under the aegis of the Delhi Public School Society, New Delhi, DPS Bhilai bagged the 1st Runners-up Trophy and qualified for the Nationals to be held at DPS, Greater Noida on 3rd November, 2012.

5. Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE): The Department of Science and Technology (DST), Ministry of Science

and Technology, Government of India awards Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE) under Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) to the students who are within the top 1% at Class XII examination conducted by the Board during the academic session ending March, 2012. 13 students of our school are within top 1% (Cut-off score - 471 marks excluding 6th Additional subject) and are eligible for the scholarship.

6. XXVII Foundation Day Celebrations: The school celebrated its XXVII Foundation Day on 18th August, 2012.

Mr. Y.K. Degan, Pro-Vice Chairman, SMC, DPS Bhilai & E.D. (Works), BSP, Bhilai inaugurated the Senior School Exhibition. Mr. Mukesh Gupta, I.P.S., I.G. - Intelligence & Raipur Range, Govt. of Chhattisgarh graced the occasion as Chief Guest and released the school magazine DIPSVIEW (2011-’12). 172 Meritorious students were awarded Scholar Badges, Marker Cups and other special awards.

7. National Inter-DPS Chess Championship (Boys U-14) & Girls (Open) Swimming Meet: DPS Bhilai had the

privilege of hosting National Inter-DPS Chess Championship (Boys U-14) & Swimming Meet (Girls Open) from 29-31st August, 2012. Mr. D.M. Awasthi, I.P.S., ADG (EOW/ACB), Raipur, Govt. of Chhattisgarh was the Chief Guest for the Opening Ceremony on 29th August, 2012. Hon’ble Mrs. Veena Singh graced the occasion as Chief Guest for the Closing Ceremony on 31st August, 2012. In the Swimming Meet for Girls (Open) DPS Bhilai bagged Silver Medal in 50 m Backstroke, 50 m Butterfly & 4×50 m Freestyle Relay and Bronze Medal in 100 m Breaststroke & 200 m Individual Medley. Kavya Anand of DPS R.K. Puram won the title of the Best Swimmer with 3 Gold Medals to her credit. The team from DPS Noida stood first with 56 points and DPS R.K. Puram was the first Runners-up and DPS Bhilai, the second Runners-up.

After 9 exhaustive rounds of Chess, among 18 participating schools, DPS Vishakhapatnam won the Championship Trophy with 13 points. DPS Bangalore (East) was the first Runners-up and DPS Dwarka was the second Runners-up on the basis of their progressive scores of 12.5 points each, DPS Bhilai scored 12 points and stood fourth. V. Pranavananda of DPS Vishakapatnam was declared the Best Player of the Championship.

8. P.T.A. for the Session 2012-’13: The PTA for the Session 2012-’13 has been constituted on the basis of the class toppers and the details of the PTA members are given in the Annexure.

(a) DISTRIBUTION OF REPORT CARDS: The report cards of the First Terminal Examination will be given to the students of classes VI-XII on Saturday, the 13th October, 2012 from 7:00 - 9:30 a.m. School buses will be plying accordingly.

(b) PARENT TEACHER MEETING: The parent teacher meeting will be held on 13th October, 2012 as

Promotion to the higher class is granted on the basis of the whole year’s performance of the pupil, hence the importance of regularity in attendance and work is imperative. Punctuality, hardwork and smart turnout do contribute significantly towards a harmonious development of the personality of the pupil, thus fostering confidence in the child.

As you are aware that your ward is going to appear for the school conducted SA II Examination in March, 2013 as directed by the CBSE.

After the school conducted SA II, the school proposes to start class XI under the CBSE AISSCE Scheme. Subject: Change in schedule of tests & activities of the Primary Wing Dear Parents, This is further to our parental circular no. DPSB:RG:Parental Circular/12-’13/03 dated 16th April, 2012 preponing the summer vacation. Due to sudden declaration of the summer vacation the entire schedule of tests, competitions and 1st evaluation etc. falling between 17 to 27th April could not be held and we are constrained to reschedule the same as follows in the larger interest of the students:
