Healthful activities abound at Britton Falls

“That’s why I like it— it’sactually pen to paper.”In September, Britton Falls

homeowners participatedin their first community-organized golf outingsupporting Indiana disabledveterans, and raisedmorethan $5,000 for DAV. Theseopportunities and others areorchestrated by KimCatellier, the community’s lifestyle director.“Kim is really good about planning different things for all of

us to do,” Cheryl said. “We have the opportunity to volunteertime ormoney or whatever is needed.”The Bordens also volunteered at the RonaldMcDonald

House and are excited about being assigned their first pen pals.In addition, Adrienne is on the Britton Falls special eventscommittee, which organizes several major events each year—the NewYear’s Eve party, aWoodstock party andNovemberfest— alongwith helpingwith grandkid events such as Trunk-or-Treat, an Easter egg hunt and the pet parade.“There aremostly women on the committee, but we let the

husbands volunteer, too,” Adrienne said.At that comment, Keith felt the need tomake a clarification: “I

assist with labor such as setting up and dumping trash cans,” hesaid.Obviously it takes both brains and brawn tomake a successful

volunteer duo.■

Sherry said. “I have watched them from the exercise roomand they are having a blast. I plan to try it soon.” ■

Fitness enhances quality of lifeThe 55-and-better set everywhere is making the

most of their golden years by being physically fit.“A lot of people are interested in bettering their

health,” said Karin Demo, Britton Falls’ on-sitepersonal trainer. “They want to feel better as theyperform their daily tasks, like walking up and downstairs and playing with their grandchildren. That’swhere I come in.”Demo helps homeowners acclimate to the Britton

Low-maintenance living a plusBritton Falls is a low-maintenance community, which means

that the monthly homeowners’ fees cover lawn maintenance andwatering, basic landscaping and snow and trash removal. In otherwords, say goodbye to cutting the grass and fertilizing the lawn.“That is definitely one the big benefits, a big plus of Britton Falls

living,” said homeowner Dan Mitchum.Another benefit is the lock-and-leave concept. Thanks to their
