Customer statement / workshop findings White stains (mould) on the soundproofing lining inside the bonnet.

Technical background In particularly rainy countries, rainwater may enter and dampen the soundproofing lining on the inside of the bonnet. This causes the appearance of white stains (mould).

Measure Should the customer complain, once the problem has been confirmed the following repair procedure must be followed:

Replace the affected lining.

Remove the bonnet half-moon moulding causing the water to penetrate as indicated in the instructions in the Technical Repair Manual.

Obtain a moulding waterproofing kit from the Genuine parts department. The genuine SEAT part reference for the kit is 1P0 867 845.

The kit is made up of three sections of self-adhesive foam:

Type 1 in Figure 4: There is 1 long section of foam.

Type 2 in Figure 4: There are 2 short sections of foam.

Figure 3: 2 pieces of A: 15 millimetres, B: 10 millimetres, and C: 170 millimetres.

Attach the self-adhesive foam sections in the manner shown in Figure 4:

Fit the moulding as indicated in the Technical Repair Manual.

Ensure the moulding is properly flush.
