By joining forces, Dyna-Torque Technologies, Inc. and Numax will combine their respective expertise in welding to optimise the pipeline welding process, offering integrated turnkey solutions to a variety of customers.

Dyna-Torque Numax are already working closely together on a number of projects to include a project on a major 42 in. gas pipeline located north of Port Harcourt, Nigeria with an alliance partner APSL, of Houston. Allied Pipeline Services Limited President (APSL) Fouad Solomon set the groundwork for a total solutions package to include pipeline construction equipment, AUT inspection and field joint coating services, coupled with the welding technology and management package of the Dyna-Torque Numax group. APSL of Houston, through its local content division in Africa AMPS (Allied Mechanical Pipeline Services Nigeria), is expanding these turnkey services to several opportunities throughout the African marketplace for several future projects.

Relying on its partner DMI International, Dyna-Torque offers worldwide pipeline contractors in-house manufactured equipment. DMI International and Dyna-Torque have entered into a merger agreement, bringing pipeline equipment and manufacturing capability to a new level for Dyna-Torque. DMI’s large rental fleet of over 1000 units of pipeline construction equipment, currently available for rent, are a major contributor to future progress. DMI International is supported by large fabrication and machine shop operating 24 hours a day, six days a week as required to keep up with worldwide customer demand. This new capacity will strengthen the ability to perform to the requirements of pipeline contractors thoughout the world.

Andrew Scherfenberg, President of Dyna-Torque Technologies, Inc., stated “The Numax pipeline contracting expertise coupled with the manufacturing resources of DMI International, provide an unmatched fit with our strategy of providing premium turnkey pipeline services domestically and internationally.”

Recognised for their experience in major international line pipe projects, the Numax management team has a reputation for quality, service and innovation. With a strong commitment to R&D, Dyna-Torque Numax responds to specific customer needs and new challenges with full service welding solutions. Its specialist welding services combined with our line pipe welding technology for various market sectors will broaden our turnkey pipeline service offering and capability.

Eddie Maclellan, Numax Limited Managing Director, added, “Being part of Dyna-Torque Technologies, Inc. opens up some very exciting opportunities for Numax. Over the next couple of years we will progressively strengthen our combined organisation through organic growth and strategic acquisition in our pursuit and vision to be the full services welding partner of choice to clients worldwide.”

With facilities in the USA, Malaysia, Brazil, Scotland, Holland, Australia, and progressing towards having facilities in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, for welder training, procedure development and manufacturing, Dyna-Torque Numax, DMI, APSL and L3 Tigal Engineering Services LTD offer a serious alternative to international contractors looking for partial or complete turnkey pipeline services.

In 1998, Dyna-Torque Technologies, Inc. determined that the automated pipe bevelling equipment being used in the pipeline construction industry was in need of modernisation. The pipe facing machines (PFMs) in service up to that time had not benefited from a significant upgrade since 1975. In July 1998, Dyna-Torque Technologies, Inc. was formed and incorporated under the laws of the State of Texas. Patents were applied for and subsequently awarded.

Dyna-Torque Technologies, Inc.’s latest development, the LONESTAR automated welding system was developed by Dejan Medanic and Mike Farrell and introduced in 2001. The LONESTAR is an advanced orbital automated pipe welding system designed to modernise traditional welding techniques and processes by integrating the latest in software development and microprocessor technologies combined with innovative device design to offer a compelling digital welding solution.

Dyna-Torque Numax, DMI International, APSL and L3 Tigal Engineering Services LTD are dedicated to providing the pipeline industry with the most efficient and trouble-free equipment and turnkey package available.
