Deco Square This spiky square can easily be masculine or fun and funky, depending on your color choices! Use muted colors for an art deco piece, or bright contrasting colors for a square that will pop against any decor.
Skill: Beginner/Intermediate US Terms Materials: A small amount of worsted weight yarn in 3 different colors H hook (5.00 mm) Yarn needle for weaving in ends. Gauge: Final square measurements are dependent entirely on when you want to stop! Keep going to make a single-square throw pillow or blanket, or make multiple squares to combine into a larger project. Stitches: Slip Stitch (sl st) Chain (ch) Single Crochet (sc) Half Double Crochet (hdc) Spike Stitch (sp) - single crochet into a row below the one currently being worked into. In this pattern, the abbreviation “sp” indicates 3 spike stitches; the first worked into the 1st row below, the second into 2 rows below and the 3rd into the 1st row below.
Notes: <> indicates stitches made into the corner ch space.
See the stitch descriptions for a special abbreviation for spike stitches.
Change color after the first round and after every three rounds after that.
Your square may ruffle slightly before blocking.
