The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George is proud to be the Volunteer Partner for the 2020 World Women’s Curling Championship, presented by Nature’s Bounty Vitamins.

This event gives us the opportunity to showcase the spirit of volunteerism, which is one of our region’s greatest assets. It also supports our objective to contribute to vibrant, desirable and sustainable communities.

As a Regional District, we provide local government services to residents living in a vast area that encompasses the municipalities of McBride, Valemount, Mackenzie and Prince George. And while our services are important, we know that it is volunteers that really make our region special.

Volunteers are the heart and soul of our region. Without their commitment, events like this simply would not be possible. The passion, dedication and generosity of volunteers make it possible to continuously produce memorable experiences for both residents and visitors of our region.

Like thousands of others, we are delighted to have the opportunity to welcome the world’s very best female curlers to Prince George. While most people will focus on the thrilling action on the ice, our hearts and gratitude are with the army of volunteers who will be working tirelessly to make this event one of the best ever.

Thank you for the commitment you are making to the Women’s World Curling Championships in Prince George.

Art Kaehn, Chair Lara Beckett, Vice Chair Regional District of Fraser-Fort George Regional District of Fraser-Fort George

Facilities: CN Centre

Glen Mikkelsen Vice-Chair, Facilities

For over three decades, I have been a volunteer, coordinated, or managed events of all sizes and types.

Since 2001, I have worked at the CN Centre, Northern British Columbia's pre-eminent sports and entertainment facility. Notable events have included Elton John, KISS,

Cirque du Soleil, and Mamma Mia! In 2009, we hosted the Road to the Roar, the Olympic trials' pre-qualifying tournament. I was also fortunate to be a volunteer at the 1988 and 2010 Winter Olympics.

I have seen how transformative international sporting events can be for communities! When people from around the world come to compete, to cheer, and to socialize, a unique comradeship is created. For that period of time, new friendships are easily created, and volunteers, competitors, and fans, bond together to create a truly special atmosphere. I look forward to being part of that joyfulness this March, as our fellow volunteers welcome our guests from around the country and the globe!
