INALLY, WINTER BREAK IS HERE!
If you are excited, believe me, you’re not
alone! I am beyond relieved to finally have
some time to myself this season. But no break
would be complete without some time with
KIWIN’S of course!
This issue of the Jet Jargon has a lot of ex-
citing information about our upcoming events.
So while you are caroling and ice-skating with
your clubs, don’t be sad that it’ll be over soon!
Winter is still just the tip of the iceberg to what
the year holds for us!
Fall Rally was the best way to wrap up au-
tumn, and I can’t begin to express how proud I
was of you guys and how much more I have in
store for you.
But before you get straight back to work,
have a wonderful holiday season, Jet! Merry
Christmas, and have a happy new year! :) With love,
Halena Ngo

Spotlight on... Your Jade Lieutenant Governor Cerena Nguyen!
Official JET Division Newsletter December Issue Page 2
Hello Manatees!
My name is Cerena Nguyen and I am
the Jade Lt. Governor for 2013-2014! I
would like to start out and say that I
have really admired this division since
freshmen year because you all can
take one given task to a whole another
level! Kudos to all the key players. At my
last trip to Southern California, my plan
was to make a surprise appearance at
the Jet Spirit night, however, I think you
guys surprised me instead. With the
weather changing and the sun setting, I
was extremely shocked with the num-
ber of attendance and good vibes I re-
ceived at the event. I hope you all had
a great time at Fall Rally South and I
hope to see everyone in the Bay Area
in April 2014. The KIWIN'S year is almost
ending, so please take advantage of
what you have and end your year of
service with a bang!
In service,
Cerena Nguyen
Jade Lieutenant Governor

Wassup in Jet Division! The winter cold is nothing to scoff at, especially if one is not
properly equipped to bear through the chilly nights. And those in
need of extra help were given this during the Help the Homeless
event hosted in Santa Ana by a few scout groups. The members
handed out sleeping bags,
monitored the safety of their
fellow members and passed
out food. They were rewarded
with warm smiles and words of
thanks from the recipients. As
the event ended earlier than
anticipated, the members had
a mini social, mingling with members from other clubs and get-
ting to know their fellow peers. The event reminded members to
be thankful for what they have and to keep in mind the frailty
and ever-changing conditions of life.

On Saturday November 14th four Edison KIWINNER’S attended the KIWIN’S Train-ing Conference. It was a fine, sunny day, perfect for a good ol’ classic KIWIN’s event. We arrived at Orange Coast Col-
lege at 11:30 in the morning and chatted with other Jet KIWINNER’S, meeting new faces and reuniting with the old. We officially began the day with an introduction in the Science Hall where we learned more about KI-WIN’S, its mission, its structure, and upcoming events like Fall Rally and DCON. Next, members attended workshops to help improve their personal and leader-ship skills in order to help improve our Edison club as a whole. After learning more cheers and attending cheer battles, we concluded the day with a closing session where we said our goodbyes.

During KIWIN’S week, a book drive was held at Fountain Valley
High for “Your Way Friday.” The books were collected for dona-
tion to the Children’s Hospital
of Orange County. The books
needed to be sanitized before
being donated, so a Book Doc-
tor was held at the corner of
Euclid and Warner on Novem-
ber 10th. Materials such as
wipes, towels, and sharpies
(and snacks!) were provided
for the members. The books were cleaned and wiped carefully.
Each and every page was checked to identify any stray mark-
ings. If any were found, white stickers were used to cover the
markings. Altogether it seemed to be a calming event, so mem-
bers were able to relax and enjoy cleaning books for a gener-
ous cause. The hard work eventually yielded books that were
as good as new for the hospital’s children.
-Angela Nguyen, Fountain Valley KIWIN’S Vice President
On November 2nd and November 16th, LAHS KIWIN’S volunteered at the Walk to End Alzheimer’s walks. Vol-unteers were given tambourines, horns, and cowbells to help motivate the walkers as well as pump up their spir-its. LAHS KIWIN’S accomplished a feat which was to cheer for three hours straight and for 4,000 people without being tired after the first 1,000. We also tried to personally thank and cheer on every group that passed by us. Even though most of our hands hurt after playing the tambourines, it was worth it because we helped put a smile on people’s faces. As the event wrapped up, volunteers picked up all of the signs that were placed throughout the course and folded up chairs to be put away.

Wassup in Jet Division! Marina KIWIN'S along with Marina Key club participated in Operation Christmas Child. Through Operation Christmas Child more than 100 mil-lion boys and girls in over 130 coun-tries have been able to receive Christmas gifts. We ordered boxes online and asked Marina Key Club to announce this event to their mem-bers in order to fill up more boxes for the children. First, we explained what Operation Christmas Child was and asked if anyone would like to fill up a box. Next, we asked them if their box was going to be designated for a boy or a girl. After they decide what gen-der they wanted their box for they had the option to choose an age range and finally, we gave examples of what to fill the box with. Our goal was to receive 50 boxes and we’re satisfied to count a total of 52 boxes for 52 children. It was very heartwarm-ing and humble of each person that gave a box and it put us in the mood of giving back to the less fortunate.
-Evelyn Romero, Marina KIWIN’S Vice President
On Friday, November 1st,
Segerstrom KIWIN’S went to
the OC Fairgrounds in Costa
Mesa to volunteer for a
unique, thrilling 5K filled with
loud electronic music and
thousands of runners wearing
neon clothes and carrying
glow-sticks. As the event was
late at night, volunteers were
asked to be guides along the
course, using glow-sticks of their own to point out the
direction of the run. Afterwards, Segerstrom’s 60+ vol-
unteers were invited to a free concert that lasted almost
until midnight!
-Tony Do, Segerstrom KIWIN’S Vice President
On the same day as the Alz-
heimer’s Walk in Huntington
Beach, La Quinta KIWIN’S vol-
unteered at the Color Me Rad
5K at the OC Great Park in
Irvine! We had the joy to volun-
teer with Marina KIWIN’S and
Fountain Valley KIWIN’S as well as La Quinta Key Club. Once
volunteers checked in at the volunteer booth, they received col-
ored shirts corresponding to their color bomb station. After-
wards, members got their color bombs ready and the runners
were immediately splashed with pigmented powder! By the end
of the race, all of the members were drenched with colored
powder. Then everyone cooperated and cleaned up the sta-
tions. After our goodbyes to Fountain Valley and Marina, La
Quinta KIWIN’S drove home after a very long and colorful morn-
ing.
-Jessica Tran, La Quinta KIWIN’S Vice President
Marina KIWIN'S members gathered at the Bolsa Chica
Wetlands on November 30, 2013. Our group was as-
signed to pick up trash along the edge of the wetlands
where it met
PCH. Equipped
with a pair of
gloves each
and a plastic
bag for collect-
ing trash, we
walked a good
length while picking up trash before we headed back.
Only seven members in total showed up for the service
event, but because it was a smaller group, we were able
to bond better with one another. Overall, it was gener-
ally laid-back event that allowed for more socializing
and photo-documentation.

CLUB PROJECT OF THE MONTH: Fountain Valley
This month's highlighted project is one that completely embod-
ies the warm ideals of Thanksgiving (you know, before Black
Friday existed): the one and only Letters to Soldiers. During this
event, our members wrote letters of thanks to the individuals
who put their safety, families and lives behind them and brave
the harsh conditions of war and battle. Because of these sol-
dier's efforts, we are able to sleep soundly at night without fear
of bombardment. This event also prompted members to think
of the people in their lives who contribute to their well being,
such as family and friends, and reminded them to be grateful
for what they have.
MANATEE OF THE MONTH: Becky Lee
Becky Lee has been an outstanding and spirited member.
Even though she's a freshman, being in KIWIN'S has certainly
broken her shy shell. Not only has she shown dedication by her
impressive attendance rate during these past three months,
but she is also hard working. Becky always goes out of her way
to meet new faces with her friendly and energy-filled person-
ality. She isn't afraid to socialize with new members of all
grades and is very open! She also attended the KIWIN'S Train-
ing Conference in November in order to expand her knowl-
edge of KIWIN'S. She attended Jet Spirit Night and studied the
Jet cheers list On the day of Fall Rally itself, she adorned her-
self with an Aztec feathered headband, the LQ KIWIN'S club
shirt, and streaks of yellow and blue facepaint. Did I also men-
tion that she was a member of the LQ KIWIN'S Fall Rally com-
mittee and assisted with painting the various FRS posters? .

So How Can I Support PTP After Fall Rally?
Pediatric trauma is the #1 leading cause of children in America, while being
entirely preventable at the same time! This is the reason why our KIWIN’S
District has made PTP our Minor Emphasis. For those of you who went to Fall
Rally, congratulations! You helped raise over thousands of dollars for this won-
derful cause. But the service isn’t over yet….
PTP WEEK IS COMING IN EARLY JANUARY! Yes, a whole week of spreading awareness and raising funds for PTP! More in-
formation will be released soon, but the week will be devoted to contributing
more to this cause. So get ready! :)
