LETTER FROM THE LTGHello my lovely blue turtles!

We did it! What did we do? Win the spirit stick at Fall Rally! Words cannot describe how thankful I am to be serving this division as your lieutenant governor. Your teamwork and efforts led Division 10 South to success. I hope you Fall Rally attendees had a wonderful time at the biggest Key Club event of the year (next to DCON). If you did not get to go this year, make sure you attend next year! I know that blue turtles can continue the legacy and keep up the spirit! But our time is not over yet! There are still 4 months left until the end of the Key Club year, which means that we can continue doing more! We have reached our goal for PTP, but that does not stop us from fundraising more. Our upcoming fundraisers will make proceeds towards PTP and the Eliminate Project!Do not forget, service is still the most crucial part of Key Club! So take the time this holiday to help other those in need: feed the homeless, participate in clothing drive, or cheer up someone's day with the holiday spirit. Remember that it is important for us to give back to this community. So do not stop in your service! I am sure you will all day amazing.

In the upcoming months, club elections will be held, not to mention conclave as well. If you want to get out there and run for a leadership position, GO FOR IT! I know that with a dedicated heart, you will do amazingly in the elections. And if you want to better serve this division, why not run for lieutenant governor? Conclave will be soon, so be on the lookout for dates, and get ready if you want to devote yourself to Division 10 South!

Once again, I am more than proud to be your LTG. I hope that I get to meet more of you before my term ends!

Love,

BUSINESSRUN WALK FAIR

BRIAN HOANG / ROSEMEAD HIGH SCHOOL On Saturday, October 27, 2012 we had our annual Rosemead District Run Walk/Health and Safety Fair at Emma W. Shuey Elementary School. The Key Clubbers arrived at 7AM to check in and help set up for the event, setting up the course and the tent where the medals would be handed out and the placing be recorded down. After the course was set up the task coordinator in charge assigned the Key Clubbers different tasks to make sure the Run Walk was a success. Some were assigned to showing runners the correct path, making sure that after they finished racing they stayed in line, counting 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, recording the places, handing out medals, taking pictures of the winners, and rabbiting for the races. The volunteers were given a generous pancake breakfast to keep them going throughout the event.

The event finally came to a start when the pre-school runners arrived to the starting line. Before each race, the rabbit would lead the runners in a couple light stretches to loosen up and they would start at the sound of a gun. Each time the grade of the runners went up the course was extended further. This process went on until the last race, the adult race which some of the key clubbers decided to run to test out the course for themselves. Although it was a hot sunny day, the Run Walk turned out very well with a few falls, laughs, and stumbles. As the event came to an end, the key clubbers helped take down the course, helped put everything away, and said our goodbyes, excited for next year's Annual Run Walk.

AIDS WALK

JENNIFER QUACHWILSON KEY CLUB During the month of October, Wilson Key Club attended the Aids Walk on October 14, 2012. This event was very successful and the majority of our key club attended. Many key clubbers enjoyed helping out and doing service. Some activates we did at the aids walk were pass out food to runners and help constructed the path for walkers. Also, some had the opportunity to choose whether they wanted to walk or not. We hope to do this again next year because it was highly successful and motivated our members to do service.

On Sunday, October 14, 2012 from 6:00am to 11:00am, Gabrielino High School’s Key Club volunteered at the 28th annual AIDS Walk Los Angeles. Every year, there are thousands of people who meet in West Hollywood to walk 4 miles in an attempt to spread awareness about AIDS. People who participate also raise money to help find a cure, and to fund medical needs and support for people who have AIDS. Many people like to walk this event with their schools, clubs, friends, and families. There were many different clubs from schools walking, and it was nice to see so many people supporting this great cause!

As the teams checked-in, Key Club members helped people find their group meeting places. One group of volunteers worked with the Gold Teams, helping to organize the teams. At one point, they had to help gather members of the top 25 fundraising teams from last year to take a group photo. The rest of the volunteers worked with the regular teams and answered questions regarding sign-in, restroom and team meeting locations as well as collected donations procedures. After everyone cleared out of the meeting spots to get ready to walk, GHS Key Club volunteers cleaned up. We broke down the tables, collected the sign in folders from each team’s table, picked up leftover food, and cleaned the park.

After we finished cleaning the park, Key Club volunteers were provided lunch and the organization thanked us for volunteering. We didn’t have to wait for everyone else to get back, so after we made the park cleaner than it before, we had completed our service. Volunteers did a wonderful job volunteering and had fun; it was a very successful day. It was a significant experience not only because we helped a great cause but also because we helped the community.

WESLEY YUENschurr key club Schurr High School Key Club hosted and volunteered for the annual Harvest Festival at Wilcox Elementary School Oct. 31 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event is similar to that of a carnival for the elementary students. Key Clubbers ran game booths, a food booth along with an entertainment station where they played popular hits of today including “Gangnam Style” and several songs by One Direction and Taylor Swift.

Weeks before the Harvest Festival, Key Clubbers painted posters for the game booths. An entertainment group consisting of officers and members prepared songs to perform during the concert portion of the festival. In addition to several game booths, we also had an arts and crafts booth and a face painting booth, the popular activity every year. Key Clubbers also distributed candy to the children at each game booth.

We also let the students sing and dance along to popular songs, the most popular and requested song of the whole day was none other than PSY’s “Gangnam Style,” where even our Key Clubbers danced along to the popular international hit, encouraging the students of Wilcox to participate in a Gangnam Style flash mob. One of the most heartwarming events that happened to myself that day was when a little girl came up to me and said “ I remember you from last year’s Harvest Festival.” It just happened to be the exact same little girl who approached me before at a past service event and told me “I remember when you came to read a Christmas story to my class I really enjoyed it”. Just seeing all the smiles on the children’s’ faces throughout day warmed our hearts and brought smiles to our own Key Clubber’s faces

BRIAN HOANGrosemead key club

On Sunday, October 28, 2012, Rosemead Key Club volunteered at the Fitness Day & Health Fair at the Garvey Community Center. The Health Fair is a free event that includes health screenings, demonstrations, seminars, giveaways, and raffle prizes. This year's fair also featured a student art exhibit that includes the best original drawings and photography from local youths.

The Key Clubbers arrived at 10AM to help set up. We set up a booth to advertise Key Club and we were assigned to other different booths. Some of the tasks we were assigned included handing out free giveaways, raffling prizes, and giving out food and water. In return for helping out, we were given free and healthy pizza and fried rice. As the event started at 1PM one performance was showcased after the other, all promoting health and exercising. The event came to an end at 3:30PM and motivated many of us to take steps toward living a healthy life.
