Friends, A most blessed and joyous Christmas to you all! May the reality of this holy day fill your hearts with peace and love for God. Recently I was praying with John 16:32-33, which is a passage where Jesus is trying to strengthen his apostles before he is arrested. He says to them, “In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” This passage struck me in this Advent season. Jesus has overcome the world, and he wants us to be of good cheer because of it! What a wonderful encouragement by our Lord. Think of the baby Jesus, helpless and defenseless in the manger on that first Christmas night, yearning for the motherly touch of Mary and in need of Joseph’s fatherly protection—a baby like all others. On that first Christmas night, Jesus didn’t seem like a conqueror or a savior. Still, that little baby whom the shepherds adored, and the Magi brought gifts signals the triumph of good over evil in our world. The God who comes to save us by becoming one of us; by stepping into our reality and living it with us. Jesus experienced everything we experience, and overcame every trial and suffering, without falling to sin. My friends, this is why we should be of good cheer, because Jesus knows what each and every one of us are going through. He doesn’t want to sit idly by watching us walk through life. No, He seeks to draw close to us, to step into the daily grind with us, and to bear the burden with us. He loves you and me, and how much He wants us to understand it. Because His love doesn’t just give us a warm, fuzzy feeling in our hearts. His love transforms us, strengthens us, inspires us to share that love with others. In this Christmas 2021, I invite you to open your hearts to the love of Jesus Christ in a new way. Just as Jesus has overcome the world, let Jesus overcome your heart, your mind, your will, your imagination—let him conquer all by His tenderness! Close your eyes and look once again at the baby in the manger on that first Christmas night…He is the one who wants to conquer your heart with Love. May you let Him do so. Hermanos, ¡Les deseo una muy feliz Navidad para todos ustedes! Que la realidad de este día santo llene sus corazones de paz y amor por Dios. Recientemente, estaba orando con Juan 16, 32-33, que es un pasaje en el que Jesús quiere fortalecer a sus apóstoles antes de ser arrestado. Les dice: “En el mundo tendrán tribulación. Pero ¡ánimo!: yo he vencido al mundo". Este pasaje me llamó la atención en esta temporada de Adviento. Jesús ha vencido al mundo y quiere que tengamos buen ánimo por ello. Él nos ama a ti y a mí, y cuánto quiere que entendamos cuanto nos ama. Su amor no solo nos da un sentimiento cálido en nuestros corazones, sino nos transforma, nos fortalece, nos inspira a compartir ese amor con los demás. En esta Navidad del 2021, los invito a abrir sus corazones al amor de Jesucristo de una manera nueva. Así como Jesús ha vencido al mundo, deja que Jesús venza tu corazón, tu mente, tu voluntad, tu imaginación, ¡deja que él lo conquiste todo con su ternura! FORMACIÓN EN LA FE

El Instituto de Formación Pastoral ofrece la opor-tunidad de crecer en la fe para ser discípulos mi-sioneros plenamente vivos y poder tener un en-cuentro con Jesús, una conversión y crecer en Él participando del trimestre de clases en persona o por Zoom que comienzan la semana del 10 de enero del 2022. Los lunes tendremos: Moral Cris-tiana (disponible también por Zoom), Verdades de la Fe II y Relaciones Humanas y Liderazgo. Los martes tendremos: Jesús en los Evangelios (disponible también por Zoom). Los jueves ten-dremos: Hechos de los Apóstoles y Catequesis III. Cada materia consta de 10 clases, una por se-mana, desde las 7:00 hasta las 8:45pm. Algunas de las clases van a ser ofrecidas en las parro-quias. In observance of New Years the parish office will be CLOSED Fri-day, December 31st at noon, and Monday, January 3rd all day. We will resume regular office hours Tuesday, January 4th. UNBOUND PRAYER SESSIONS On January 6th, the SLC will be hosting UNBOUND Ministry for private prayer sessions from 7pm to 9pm. These evenings will allow retreatants to receive per-sonal and private spiritual aid from an UNBOUND prayer team. Space is limited, so sign up soon to re-serve a spot and check for future events. This event will recur on the first Thursdays of upcoming months. UNBOUND MINISTRY TEAM FORMATION UNBOUND ministry will be offering a time for minis-try formation on January 13th. This event is free and open to all who are interested, including those who have ministered before at UNBOUND events, those who want to learn how, and those who simply want to learn more about how they can share UNBOUND with their friends and family. The evening will go from 7pm - 9pm. UNBOUND REFLECTION EVENING Join us at 7pm on January 20th to engage in an even-ing of testimonies, prayer, worship, and healing. UN-BOUND Ministry seeks to help Christians combat the imprisoning effects of sin and break free of their bonds, so as to be able to respond wholeheartedly to the Gospel. No prior experience with UNBOUND is needed to begin your healing journey this evening. This event is free, but please register so we know how many to expect. FORMATION OF THE HEART RETREAT Formation of the Heart is a way of deepening your relationship with God. During this retreat, January 21st - 23rd, you will learn tools to help you feel how God is working in your heart. These tools enable you to understand your own wounds and disorders and how the enemy works on you. The retreat includes lessons on Prayer of the Heart, Lectio Divina, and Ig-natian Spirituality. There will be opportunities for Mass, confession, private prayer with our Lord in ado-ration, and a time to be prayed with individually. Re-treat costs apply.

Baptism Parents: Must be parishioners of the Cathedral and be registered at least 1 month before baptism. They must present a copy of the child's birth certificate so that all names are spelled correctly on the baptismal certificate. Godparents: They must be married by the Catholic Church and they must present their marriage certificate (a photo is acceptable). They have to be confirmed and they must present their certificate of confirmation (a photo is acceptable). Single sponsors: They must be over 16 years old. They must present a copy of their confirmation certificate. Parents who are not parishioners: If you want your child to be baptized in the Cathedral, parents must present a letter of permission from their parish priest where they are registered, and all the documents mentioned above. (For example, when the godparents are parishioners and the parents come to the Cathedral from another parish to baptize.) All must present a certificate or letter verifying that they took the baptism class. Baptism Classes in English: 1st Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Marian Room; located on second floor of the parish office. Registration is required. Baptisms: Monthly on 2nd Saturdays at 6:15 p.m. and monthly on 2nd Sundays at 11:15 a.m. Please call the parish receptionist to register for Baptism class and/or arrange the baptism date at 263-6574. Thank you Marriage Congratulations on your future wedding! Please visit our website to request a wedding date (WichitaCathedral.com), or call the parish office at least 9 months prior to the desired date. Our Receptionist, Francesca Santana, will receive your request and contact you to schedule your date. She will then put you in contact with Fr. Keiter or Fr. Shepherd for marriage preparation. May God bless you both! Quinceañeras Requirements: Young women must be baptized, have received First Communion, and have been confirmed or are currently in Confirmation Class. All Young women must also take a Quinceañera class, which begins the second Tuesday of February/September . Please contact the office at 263-6574 to begin the process of setting a date for the celebration. Thank you.

SACRAMENTAL INFORMATION Bautismo Papás: Deben ser parroquianos de la Catedral, y estar registrados por lo menos 1 mes antes del bautismo.
