This week at the Center….. THE FOURTH SUNDAY OF ADVENT DECEMBER 21, 2014

The Fourth Sunday of Advent

PEACE ECHOING MARY’S DECISION The angel Gabriel today confronts Mary with a mystery. The mystery of salvation in Christ is not a mystery that is solved, but a reality beyond our comprehension that we must choose to enter into. In the liturgy of the Eastern Church, everyone waits to see if Mary will enter into the mystery: God waits, Adam and Eve and all the souls of the dead who long for paradise wait, angels wait for new heav-enly companions. And there is much rejoicing when her de-cision is “yes.” We have less dramatic choices offered to us, but the mystery of our salvation in Christ is by no means “solved.” We may understand it a bit better due to Mary’s “yes.” We may be a bit closer to it through the passion, death, and res-urrection of Jesus Christ. But it still remains a mystery to which we all must give our own “yes.” Soon we will be singing “O come, let us adore him.” May our Advent prayer, our echo of Mary’s “yes,” continue then, so we may enter into the mystery of our salvation in Jesus Christ, God among us. Breaking Bread Homeless Ministries News From The Streets…

I Believe In Miracles By Mary Martha Primerano Last Sunday after church I was approached by a sweet home-less fellow named Bill, and he asked me what my last name was. When I said, “Primerano” he whipped out a TX Drivers License and other important cards belonging to me! I was shocked to see these items now in my hand because last sum-mer on Thursday, Aug. 6th(to be exact) my wallet was lost or stolen-whatever happened to it, I’m still not sure. I decided then not to let this steal my joy and took it in stride cancelling all my cards. There was one thing I couldn’t fix. The fearful thoughts of identity theft that tormented my mind. I finally took it to God and reminded Him of His promise found in Psalm 37: 23-24. The steps of the godly are directed by the Lord and He delights in every detail of their lives -You see I have been meditating on this for the past year. Really letting it soak into my spirit. So in childlike faith I simply had a talk with God and said something like this. “Look God I don’t like the idea of all my important cards with my identity being out there. I don’t know where that wallet could be - but one thing I do know is that You know where it’s at. I understand that you love me as your child so I’m asking you to please get these cards back. Amen“. So that takes us to Sunday, Nov. 23 with God sending Bill our homeless friend delivering all of my cards to me. He explained how he was walking along the highway feeder road and saw all these items on the ground and picked up only the important looking cards. Some may ask (as I did). Why did it take so long? Is it any wonder that I would receive my cards on the Sunday prior to Thanksgiving? To remember that God has me in the palm of His hand, and to keep a thankful heart. Eph. 5:20 At all times and for everything giving thanks in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father.
