Art electives at CELS This term, secondary students had a choice of three electives in the Arts. Lisa’s group learned how tofollow a procedure to create their own Lino prints. Firstly, Mr Sean gave us a presentation on thevocabulary, procedure and safety. After that, students experimented with designs and drawings. Then, they carved the lines into linoleum. The final step was to roll the ink into an even layer, and print thedesigns onto the paper.

Not only did the students learn new skills and language, Miss Lisa also learned a lot (it was her first time).Thank you Mr Sean for supporting this class. It’s great for teachers to help each other and collaborate tolearn new things!

Primary students at Broadmeadows have been learning about narratives as a genre focusthis term. The students from both upper and lower primary classes made these puppets. We

looked at different kinds of puppets and how they can be used to tell a story.

Puppet plays

The younger students improvised stories and used their puppets to say hello to anotherpuppet. A puppet theatre was set up in their investigations activities so the students could

explore speaking with puppets. The older students wrote short scripts for puppet plays andperformed these for their peers.
