Mufti Mohammed Wasim Khan (USA)

Mufti Mohammed Wasim Khan was born in Dallas, Texas and began his journey in Islamic knowledge at a very young age. After spending considerable months improving his Quran recitation at Jami’atul ‘Ilm Wal-Huda in UK, Mufti Wasim embarked on a decade-long journey to study the sacred sci-ences. After studying in 4 different continents, Mufti Wasim graduated in 2010 from Darul Uloom Zakariyya. Mufti Wasim stayed for another 2 years at Zakariyya to complete the Iftaa course (where a scholar learns the discipline of passing Is-lamic edicts) and for further specialization in the sciences of Tafseer, Hadith and Fiqh – fields in which he holds multiple ijazaat in. Mufti Wasim currently holds the second shortest sanad in the world to the Prophet Mohammed (s) through the sanad of Maulana Mekki Hijazi. His Ijazats reach in the

hundreds, amongst his most prominent ijazats are MuftiRidhaa ul Haq, Sheikh Makki Hijazi, Sheikh Shoaib Arnaoot, Sheikh Younus Sa-haranpuri, Sheikh Muhammed Awwamah and Sheikh Mohammed Ali Saabuni.

Mufti Wasim is a regular speaker nationally and internationally at conferences, workshops, youth programs, social services events and development programs. In over ten countries internationally and hun-dreds of cities across the globe he has had the opportunity to teach students. In 2013, Mufti Wasim presented his thesis on abortion at the American Muslim Jurist Assembly (AMJA), making him the young-est person to ever present a paper at the largest Fiqh conference in America to further his academic interests in 2012. Mufti Wasim has taught Aqeedah, Hadith and Fiqh among other subjects to aspir-ing scholars. Mufti Wasim is currently the Director and Dean of ISRA Foundation, an online and onsite based academic institution based in Houston which develops courses and classes for college students and professionals. He also founded the “Khateeb Notes” initiative, a me-dium whereby over 300 scholars from 6 continents exchange weekly Khutbah notes.

Mufti Wasim is currently the resident scholar at the Islamic Center of Frisco in Dallas, Texas. He will be involved in extensive counselling, in-terfaith work, representing the community in the media and in teach-ing regular classes at the Islamic Centers of Frisco. He is also the Dean and Director of ISRA Foundation, an Islamic seminary dedicated to produce scholars.. Mufti Wasim is also the Vice-President of his family business, “Caravan Travel” through which he takes regular Hajj and Umrah groups.

ANTI-MUSLIM HATE CRIMESA presentation by MEND for Sisters on the ‘Causes &

Cures’ of IslamophobiaIslamophobia continues to be a daily lived experience with data showing a 40% increase of religiously-aggravated hate crimes in the UK from 5,949 in in 2016/2017 to 8,336 in 2017/18, that’s 160 of-fences a week and 23 offences a day. In London alone the Metropoli-tan Police Service recorded a 32% increase of Islamophobic offenses from 1266 in 2016/2017 to 1665 in 2017/2018. It is extremely im-portant to note that these are only numbers from what has been re-ported and recorded. There are many, many incidents that go under the radar. Islamophobia takes many forms and infiltrates every area of public, social, and civic life.

The vision of MEND is to work towards achieving a major reduction in islamophobia to empower the Muslim community through educa-tion to protect the orthodox practice of Islam in the UK for the future of our children in Britain and to celebrate the contributions Islam and Muslims have made to the UK and to the world. MEND achieves this by functioning in three ways: the community wing, the policy/advocacy wing and the victim support (Islamophobia Response Unit) wing.

All women of the community are encouraged to attend the presen-tation on the Causes and Cures of Islamophobia being delivered by MEND. The presentation will cover what the scale of Islamophobia is and what its key causes are, as well as, what we as a community can do together to help tackle this rise of hatred.

What the Bible says about Prophet Muhammad (SAW)

According to the Bible, God said to Moses (as):

“I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers; I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him.” (The Holy Bible, New International Version, Deuteronomy chapter 18, verse 18).

The prophet described in the above verse must have the following three characteristics:

1. The prophet like MosesSome people feel that this prophecy refers to the prophet Jesus (as). But, although Jesus (as) was tru-ly a prophet of Allah, he is not the prophet spoken of here. He was born miraculously and Allah raised him up miraculously. On the other hand, Muhammad (SAW) is more like Moses (as); both were born in a natural way and both died natural deaths.

2. From among the IshmaelitesAbraham (as) had two sons, Ishmael (as) and Isaac (as) (Genesis, chapter 21). Ishmael (as) became the grandfather of the Arab nation, and Isaac (as) became the grandfather of the Jewish nation. The prophet spoken of was to come not from among the Jews themselves, but from among their brothers, the Ishmaelites. Muhammad (SAW), a descendant of Ish-mael, is indeed that prophet.

3. God will put His words in his mouth“Neither the content of the revelation, nor its form, were of Mohammed’s devising. Both were given by the angel, and Mohammed’s task was only to repeat what he heard.”(World Religions from Ancient His-tory to the Present, by Geoffrey Parrinder, p. 472)

God sent the angel Gabriel (as) to teach Muhammad (SAW) the exact words that he should repeat to the people. The words are therefore not his own; they did not come from his own thoughts, but were put into his mouth by the angel. These are written down in the Qur ’an, word for word exactly as they came from God.

Now that we know that prophet we must listen to him, for, according to the Bible, God says: “I will pun-ish anyone who refuses to obey him” (Good News Bi-ble, Deut. 18:19).
