6th Grade-We have completed the first volume of our curriculum with lots of new concepts. We will begin the third quarter with Volume 2 on more Algebraic concepts. Enjoy the break! 7th Grade- We have already begun the Volume 2 of the curriculum which is a pre-requisite of Pre-Algebra. We will begin the unit of Geometry in the third quarter. Enjoy the winter holidays! 8th Grade-We are right on track with the curriculum and have already begun working on Percentages. The third quarter will include the beginning of our Geometry unit. QURAN Assalamualaikum, Dear Parents,

The last two months were busy months for our students. They were given a written tests on Suratul- Mujadilah including the tajweed rules, as well as Hamzatul-Wasl-Ith’har, Iqlab, Raa and Lam rules with worksheet and writing test. We almost finishe Suratul-Hashr Tilawah we did a quizzes for Ayahs 1-7 and will continue as Suratul-Mujadilah after winter break Insha'allah.

Alhamdulillah, we are nearing the end of the second quarter. The Science Fair Projects were phenomenal! Students displayed their trifolds along with the results of their experiments. Numerous hours and effort was dedicated to these projects, both in school and at home. I would like to personally thank each and every student and their parents and family members for their commitment � None of this would have been possible without your help! TECHNOLOGY Alhamdolillah, Students are working hard on

their children’s storybook project and look forward to sharing it with the elementary

students. They have also completed the introduction to programming lessons on codehs and will start on using the function commands

Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu, Alhamdulillah! All praise to Allah (swt) who enabled us to complete the second quarter of School successfully. Alhamdulillah, we were able learn about Prophet Dawood, Prophet Sulayman, Haya, Islamic Etiquette of clothing as well as Islamic Quiz Bowl which was done by students with a lot of enthusiasm. Alhamdulillah For the coming month in shaa Allah we plan to do lot more with students learning about Portraits of faith, Islam prevails in Arabia and engaging them in Quizzes, Activities and Projects on Portraits of Faith, etc. In sha Allah We pray that Allah swt puts Barakah in our time and enable us to practice all that we preach. Ameen

Social Studies

6th Grade- This quarter students learned about the Caribbean, South America, and Western Europe. Students learned about the countries, geography, climate, resources, culture, history, government, and economies of these continents. Students also participated in the Social Studies Fair. For the fair, students chose a topic, from a social studies discipline, posed a research question and answered that question by using primary and secondary sources. Mashallah, they did a great job! 7th Grade- This quarter students learned about the expansion of the Islamic Empire, the rise and fall of the Roman Empire, and the dynastic systems of ancient China. Students learned about the golden age of Cordoba, Spain, and the advancements Muslims had in the arts, sciences and mathematics. We also discussed the spread of the Roman Empire, the emergence of Christianity and development of the Byzantine Empire. Students also learned about the development of China's dynasties, their belief systems and how the Mongols took invaded and took control of China. Students also participated in the Social Studies Fair. For the fair, students chose a topic, from a social studies discipline, posed a research question and answered that question by using primary and secondary sources. Mashallah, they did a great job! 8th Grade- This quarter students learned about the why the United States fought in the American Revolution, who supported the United States, the important battles of the revolution, and what happened to the country after the war ended. Students learned about the United States under the Articles of Confederation and how the Constitution was written and ratified. Students also participated in the Social Studies Fair. For the fair, students chose a topic, from a social studies discipline, posed a research question and answered that question by using primary and secondary sources. Mashallah, they did a great job!

Language Arts and Reading - Sr. Fatimah

Sixth Grade - This month in ELA/Read for 6th grade, we will

learn the correct usage of modifiers (adjectival clauses, adjectival phrases). In addition, we will be exploring our new

Big Question for reading, “Do We Need Words To Communicate Well?” through poetry.

Seventh Grade - This month in ELA/Read for 7th grade, we will be learning prepositional phrases, and appositive phrases. In

addition, we will be exploring our new Big Question for reading, “Do Others See Us More Clearly Than We Ourselves?” through

plays and short stories.

Eighth Grade - This month in ELA/Read for 8th grade we will be learning the three cases of pronouns: nominative/subjective,

objective, and possessive. In addition, we will be exploring our Big Question for reading, “What Is The Secret To Reaching Someone With Words?” through poetry and short stories.

Alhamdu Lillah Students of class (A) have learned a lot this quarter. We read the story of the great wish, a story that shows the many great things, which Allah SWT has created for us. Students also made a project where they asked Allah SWT for their own wish. They also read the story of the Shepherd, Wolf, and the Villagers, a story that shows the results of lying and deceiving people. Students are current reading the Story of Arrogant elephant, a story that has some new sentences structures and shows that no one should show off.

We worked on important rules for writing and dictation. They learned grammar rules about the present verb and tools that would affect the verb ( المجزوم المضارع الفعل ).

Alhamdu Lillah students of class (B) have learned a lot this quarter. They learned about jobs and careers and practiced by asking each other questions about family member jobs in a in-class project. Students also learned different types of nouns and how to change them from singular to dual and plural.

Students also read the story of the Ant and the Cricket, a story that shows the result of working hard and the consequences of being lazy. We also read the story of the Ant and the Pigeon, a story that shows the importance of helping others. Students have learned several new vocabulary words and were able to use them in a project to describe different ways of helping others.

Students worked on several grammar lessons including pronouns, verbs in the past tense, and verb conjugation. They were able to able to correct a given sentence using verb-subject.
