Thank you to everyone who was able to attend. We have lots going on for the new year. Make sure you watch your BEACON for all activities. We have an exciting IBC Luncheon coming up in January. Discussions for Great Decisions

Fourth Wednesday Every Month

If you want to stretch your brain a bit and learn from experts about current world affairs, then join the Camarillo Branch Great Decisions group for 2016. It’s easy. First, we read a brief chapter in our booklet. When we meet, we watch a video on the month’s topic and then discuss it for about an hour. This is a safe, informative, and non-political venue to discuss important and current foreign policy matters. No experience is necessary! For 2016, “Climate Change” and “The Koreas” are among the discussion topics. We’ll meet the evening of the fourth Wednesday of each month for eight months at the home of Linda Cohenour. The one-time cost for 2016 is $28 per person. Each participant will receive an individual copy of the booklet, and we will share the cost of the DVD and shipping.

If you are interested in joining us in 2016, please contact either:

Shari Zaiger [email protected], or call (805) 386-2691 or Meg Perry [email protected], or call (805) 796-5950.

More About Medical Home

Care Services . . . .

What’s available to our community?

According to Dr. Suzanne Fussell, Board Certified Family Physician and CEO of Healthwise Home Care Solutions Inc., medical homecare agencies provide community outreach programs to include free services to seniors, advocate on behalf of loved ones, and communicate with the patient’s primary physician on issues such as medication reconciliation, one of the leading causes of patient readmission. Medical home care agencies work closely with hospitals to transition the patient’s care and provide nursing, physical therapy, social services, and home health aides, all in the privacy of the patient’s home and under the supervision of a licensed medical doctor. Accredited medical home care agencies provide education for family members and/or friends while maintaining the recipient’s dignity and independence. This quality of life can be lost even in the best institutions. Medical home care also allows patients to take an active role in their care. With an increase in the elderly population among the aging baby boomers, it is important to understand the services available with insurance and Medicare. The current trend, from doctors and medical facilities, is to decrease unnecessary readmission rates to hospitals.
