Remember the article in last months newsletter about Albany Trolleys? TonyOplaka, new UC member and the co-author of the paper from which we tran-scribed our information, A History of Local Rail Transit in the City of Albany(1862-1946) and Certain City Neighborhoods , emailed us to let us know thatthere was a little something wrong in our article. We noted that the Capital Dis-trict Transportation Authority was formed in 1925. Tony informed us that itwas not Capital District Transportation Authority that was formed in 1925 butCapitol (yes, with an o) District Transportation Company which was a whollyowned subsidiary of the United Traction Company, which ran the electric trol-leys. He went on to say that that company was formed because I believe trol-ley companies could not also run buses, which were relatively new in 1925.

He also offered to give a talk on the subject complete withslides and real live trolley artifacts. So, the Foundation signedhim up! We hope youll join us to find out more about thisfascinating part of Albany history. Hot/cold lunch buffet be-gins at noon, followed by the presentation. $20 payable to theFoundation. Reservations please. Call the Club at 463-1151.
