Pastors Corner Filled with the Holy Spirit, that is, informed, inspired by God, inspired by God, Elizabeth was the first human being to proclaim the dignity, the special position given to Mary in God’s plan for our redemption. “Blessed are thou amongst women…the mother of my Lord,” she said. Mary was the one chosen from all eternity, from all the daughters of Eve, to be the mother of the Incarnate Son of God – no greater dignity could be conferred on any creature on earth or in heaven, she was surely the “blessed one.” The moment she accepted the Angel’s announcement in Nazareth and said “be it done unto me according to thy word” she became the Mother of Christ, our Redeemer. And at that same moment she became our Mother also, for Christ has made us his brothers. Fortunate and blest indeed are we to have such a Mother in heaven who loves us and is supremely interested in us. Mary, our Mother in heaven, has made a sacrifice for us – a sacrifice greater than any human mother could ever make – she offered her divine Son for us on Calvary and stood there to see him die slowly in agony for our sakes. Could we ever doubt her love for us then, her supreme interest in us? She wants nothing for us but the greatest and the blest, our eternal happiness with the Holy Trinity in heaven. Every human mother does all she can to help child succeed in life. Our heavenly mother does all she can, to help us succeed in our heavenly vocation. But we must do our part. Unfortunately, many a son and daughter forget the sacrifices their earthly mothers made for them in their childhood and youth and leave them unhelped, uncomforted and lonely in their advancing years. Let us thank God from our hearts at Christmas for sending his divine Son to redeem us, and for giving his Son and us a Mother “blessed amongst women” and greatest of all mothers. Ella no quiere nada para nosotros más que lo más grande y bendito, nuestra felicidad eterna con la Santísima Trinidad en el cielo. Toda madre humana hace todo lo que puede para ayudar al niño a tener éxito en la vida. Nuestra madre celestial hace todo lo que puede para ayudarnos a tener éxito en nuestra vocación celestial. Pero debemos hacer nuestra parte. Desafortunadamente, muchos hijos e hijas olvidan los sacrificios que sus madres terrenales hicieron por ellos en su niñez y juventud y los dejan sin ayuda, incómodos y solos en sus años venideros. Demos gracias a Dios de corazón en Navidad por enviar a su divino Hijo para redimirnos, y por darnos a su Hijo ya nosotros una Madre “bendita entre las mujeres” y la más grande de todas las madres.

Christmas Decorators Needed

We are only a few weeks away from Christmas. That means it’s time to decorate the Church to beautify it to celebrate the Nativity of the Lord. We need volunteers on December 22nd from 9 am – 12 noon to set up the Christmas decorations in the Church. We would need volunteers again on January 10th from 9am-12pm to take down the Christmas decorations. If you are interested in volunteering, please call the parish office to sign-up. Mother Mary, as You carried your dear Son in your immaculate womb, you also carried Him in your heart. Pray for me, this Advent, that I may surrender myself to the will of the Father in imitation of you. You said “Yes” to all that God asked of you and never hesitated to fully embrace His divine will. Pray that I may imitate your perfect example so as to share a deeper union with you and your divine Son.

Building Fund is Now Give & Grow in Christ

The Building Fund name has evolved into the Give & Grow in Christ Fund. In order to maintain the tax-free account, donations are deposited to the St. Thomas the Apostle parish account at the Advancement Foundation. These donations will help the parish plan for future growth and capital improvements.

Donate by check: The Building Fund name has changed and is now processed as Give & Grow in Christ Fund through the Advancement Foundation. All donations get deposited to the St. Thomas parish account. If you have been making payments to the Building Fund and you prefer to pay by check, please continue and make checks payable to the Advancement Foundation and write “Give & Grow in Christ” in the memo space of the check. You may drop checks in the weekly offertory or mail them to Advancement Foundation at 201 Main St. Ste 1198, Fort Worth TX 76102-3101.

Donate online: If you have been making payments to the Building Fund through Online Giving, set up a new donation to the Give & Grow in Christ Fund, by going to https://www.sttafw.org/ggc. You may now use your bank account to make a payment or your credit card. You must discontinue all recurring payments you set up for the Building Fund by logging into our Online Giving Account at https://giving.parishsoft.com/App/Giving/sttafw and cancel the automatic contribution.
