DEC 2018
PRAISE!
4 weeks this past summer we
had to open up a staff room to
host 6 campers as a ‘tenth
cabin’! The camp is growing and
we’re so thankful we had the
‘space’ to enable more campers
to come.
Every week God provided all the
volunteers needed to take all the
campers!
A great need (and a requirement
to run camp) is to have a certified
health officer on-site each week
– There were MANY weeks we
were not sure how this role would
be filled, but it always was!
Significant work completed over
the summer on the new facility.
(see building update for more
info)
An RV donated to the camp for
the summer to be used when
needed provided extra space to
host volunteers.
Despite the receding water level
at the beach – all activities
continued as normal and lots of
fun was had on the brand new
paddle board!
MERRY CHRISTMAS TMBC NEWSLETTER
What an exciting year 2018 has been for TMBC and
everyone involved. We were so excited to see many
new faces, and a new record number of 685
campers come through the camp! Not only did we
have many new campers, but also so many new
volunteers willing to step out of their comfort zone
and serve at camp. Despite the hot summer season,
campers and volunteers made each week extra
special with various ways to stay ‘cool’… a huge
blessing this past summer was the
donation of over 400 crocheted water
balloons!
Our leadership team worked hard to make camp the
best place ever for each camper and volunteer. One
thing you have to know about camp… everyday is
new and there are no guarantees of what could
happen. Having a team of volunteers ready to serve
in so many ways makes it possible to have all the
campers at camp each week. One week we had a
maintenance volunteer step into a cabin leader role,
a wrangler become a cook, and many others switch
roles throughout the day based on where the need
was at!
We cannot begin to express how much we love each
and every one of the campers and families who are
part of TMBC. From our supporting churches,
families, and communities, to our campers each
week; YOU are the reason we do camp ministry –
and it is because of God’s great LOVE that we can
keep serving through camp year after year. When
you bring your friends to camp, it’s like bringing a
new member into the family.
Thank you for letting us be part of your family, and
for being part of the TMBC family!
There has been almost $1.7 mil-lion already raised for the new facility. At this time the 'ballpark' number we need to enable us to occupy the building is between $5-600,000. We would need more than half of that amount in the next 75 days if we are going to be able to consid-er occupying the building legally (all permits in place) for the 2019 camping season. We have hosted a few fundraisers over the last few months, but it is through you as individuals, and as a community, that we will be able to complete this project for summer 2019. If you would like to stay up-to-date on where the project is at please email Chelsie Zylstra at [email protected] and she will add you to the email list. This is an exciting time to be part of TMBC – and we are so thankful for everyone who have contributed (either financially, prayerfully, physically, and more!). We can’t wait for the first opening day in the new facility – will you help us com-plete the building for our upcoming camp season?
RISE UP & BUILD
Over the course of the summer, TMBC was blessed to have Art Thiessen be the project manag-er. He worked tirelessly for 3 months and accomplished SO MUCH! Here is just a brief outline of what was accomplished through the summer: Insulation installed in attic and main level walls, 5.5 weeks of dry walling to complete the main level walls, tape, mud, and paint on all main level walls/ceilings, basement wall frames in place, cooler and freezer installed in new kitchen, interior framing around windows, and more! Upcoming work being done on the facility: Mechanical to be in-stalled and worked on over the winter months. Decisions regard-ing water treatment system to be determined and ready for instal-lation, electrical is complete, and plumbing is in the finishing stag-es, and all other areas to prepare the building for 2019 occupancy are being worked on by our gen-eral project manager. $300,000 BY DEC 31st This is our goal that we are aiming for to help us be financially able to continue the construction of the new facility.
NEW YEAR! We have an exciting year lined up ahead. We’ve hired a part-time office administrator, Kailyn, who is going to oversee all camper registrations. She has served at TMBC as a cabin leader for several years, and is passionate about getting to know people by name and hearing their stories. Camper registrations will be available end of January! So stay tuned for that release on our website, check your local schools/churches for brochures as well. From TMBC to you – we hope that you have an amazing holiday season celebrating with family and friends! It is hard to believe that 2018 is coming to an end, but we are so glad to have been part of your year.
MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM YOUR TMBC FAMILY!
