September 11, 2019 Dear St. William the Abbot Families, On this most solemn of days, we pause to remember the events of September 11, 2001, and to remember those who lost their lives on that tragic day. We pray for all those first responders who are currently battling illnesses related to their heroic efforts at Ground Zero. Our students in grades 3-8 gathered this morning in the Gym for our 9/11 Prayer Service. We will never forget. As we begin this new school year, I would like to welcome all of you back, as well as the many new families who have become a part of our SWS family. It was a pleasure seeing so all of you last night at Back-to-School Night. I am confident that you enjoyed meeting with the members of our faculty and hearing about the great plans they have for your children this year. There is an important calendar change to announce as a result of our two-day delay in opening the school year. In order to make up the instructional days, we have had to add two days back to the calendar. Therefore, school will be IN SESSION for students on October 31, 2019 and March 9, 2020. Both will be full days. Please mark your calendars accordingly. We are holding our first food drive of the year for the St. William the Abbot Parish Food Pantry. Mrs. Graziano, of the Parish Social Ministry Office, has reached out to us as the food levels at the Pantry are very low after a busy summer. Each grade level is asked to bring donations of a specific item. A flyer with specific details will be coming home today in your child’s backpack. On behalf of the Parish Social Ministry Office, thank you for your generosity. The annual 6th grade trek to Nature’s Classroom is next week. Please keep our 6th graders, their teachers, and our chaperones in your prayers as they spend the week together, learning and enjoying each other’s company. Can’t wait to hear all about their adventures upon their return! Lastly, hope to see everyone this Friday, September 13th, for our Back-to-School Picnic, beginning at 6:30 PM. The forecast looks good, so please join us if you can. Thanks to Mrs. Mili McCauley and the HSA for coordinating this special evening! Have a great week, Mrs. Bricker

FUNDiT

September 2019 Dear Parents,

Starting January 1996, we were able to offer a continuous Fund Raiser that earns you tuition dollars and raises money for our school. It’s called “FUNDiT (scrip) – a Gift Certificate Program”. You just order Gift Certificates for nationwide retailers, restaurants, gas stations, and supermarkets (An order form is enclosed that offers vendors commonly found in our area. If you are interested in buying gift certificates for another vendor, please call because it may be available).

You pay for and receive the face value of the certificates. The school is charged a discounted amount. Now to make this program interesting, we split the discount that the school receives between you, the parents, and the school.

Every week an order is placed and later that week you will receive your Gift Certificates. Just by spending grocery money, gas money, and money that you would normally spend on presents, you save Tuition Dollars.

Order forms and checks “Payable to St. William the Abbot” can be returned to school marked “FUNDiT” attn: Gail Tomczyk, main office. Orders are placed every Sunday and will be returned to your child the following Friday. With every order you will receive a “Tuition Credit Voucher” slip and a new order form. Save all of your vouchers. When ready to redeem, staple them together, put the total on the top sheet, and enclose with your tuition payment (Deduct the voucher amount from the tuition amount being paid). We ask that all vouchers earned during the year be redeemed no later than with your May 15th payment. Any earned after that can be saved for the next year. This is ongoing even thru the summer. If you have any questions, you can call me anytime and I’ll explain the program. We hope you give it a try and see what you can save on your tuition – even if you only purchase your weekly groceries & gas! Gail Tomczyk (795-4542)
