Wednesday’s ProgramGirls on the Run, Karen Peters: Inspiring girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident.The Goal of GOTR is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident now and into the future. GOTR uses an experience-based curriculum that is creatively integrated with running to help build self esteem, learn to accept others and be true to their original selves.GOTR is far more than just an exercise program. Coaches utilize a proven curriculum that encourages girls to make healthy choices about food, exercise, relationships and community involvement. the program is designed to help girls with: Understanding themselves; Setting personal goals; Learning skills to get along in a group; Examining responsibility & voice in the community. The Sutter County Girls on the Run is a program of Soroptimist International of Marysville-Yuba City, a non-profit service club, dedicated to helping girls in 3rd through 6th grade prepare for a lifetime of self respect and healthy living. The after school running program utilizes an innovative curriculum to focus on building self-esteem and improving physical and emotional well-being during the most challenging years of adolescence.

News from District Gov. Robert Deering: • September 21 – United Nations International Day of Peace. District

5180 will be hosting a peace symposium at Sacramento City College at 7pm. Tom Schadyac, one of Hollywood’s leading filmmaker with credits such as “Ace Ventura, “The Nutty Professor”, and “Bruce Almighty” will show his documentary film “I Am”. This film poses two practical and provocative questions. What’s wrong with our world and what can we do to make it better?. Admission $10 per person with students admitted for free. The program is designed for the youth groups, so please bring your Interact Clubs and RYE students.

The letter stated, “Thanks to the generous contributions of Rotarians, the number of polio cases is declining, but the current funding shortfall of $945 million and uneven political commitment puts the program at risk. Rotarians made a promise to the world’s children that no child ever again would suffer the crippling effects of polio and we must increase our efforts in collaboration with our partners and the Gates Foundation to realize our dream”.
