Dear Friends of the Southwest Symphony Orchestra, Now into its second half-century, the Southwest Symphony Orchestra is stronger and more vibrant than ever. A crescendo of anticipation surrounds our 2015-2016 season "The American Experience…"
We are pleased to announce the return of Polish-American pianist, Tomasz Robak, performing Piano Concerto No. 4
on September 27 in an all-Beethoven concert - Beethoven 3rd, 4th, 5th! On November 15th, SSO Showcase! features the entire orchestra as "soloist" in Mahler’s Symphony No. 1, complemented by seldom performed treasures. Sounds of the Season emanate from St. Stephen and St. Damian on December 6 & 11 respectively – a "must include" on your shopping list during the busy holidays. A long time in planning, The American Experience, inspired by the PBS series of the same name, takes the stage on April 3. Christopher Martin, Principal Trumpet of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, is featured in JFK, Lincoln, and Wage Peace - A Reflection on 9/11 for Trumpet, Narrator and Orchestra. This composition of mine will be a world-premiere, integrating the internationally recognized poem "Wage Peace" by Judyth Hill. Ms. Hill will narrate and provide colorful commentary of the other works in the concert. Diane Penning & Paul Langford take us down memory lane in A Night Out at the Movies – Hollywood’s Greatest Melodies on May 7 - a fabulous season finale! Subscribe this coming season as the Southwest Symphony Orchestra eclipses itself in The American Experience…
Best wishes, David Crane, Music Director
