ORC/HCA ACTIVITIES IN JANUARY 2019

Regional Task Force meeting

On January 31, 2019, a Regional Team meeting was held in Sarajevo on the topic of Understanding and Prevention of Anti-Western and Extreme Influence in the framework of the International Institute Western Balkans program.

Representative of the Youth Resource Center Tuzla and one of the panelists was Slobodan Blagovčanin.

For two years now, the Institute has implemented a regional program that focuses on combating violent extremism and malignant foreign influence.

Within the above program, IRI has formed a Task Force group that brings together

18 members (parliamentarians, representatives of civil society, academia and media) from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia and Macedonia with the aim of informing and exchanging experiences regarding the fight against violent extremism and foreign influence in the Western Balkans. Regional meetings of the group like this are held every two to three months and are closed to the public.

Advisory meeting for the event "Selection of athletes from the City of Tuzla"

On January 25th, in the Youth Center, at the invitation of the Youth Council of the City of Tuzla, an advisory meeting was held on which besides the host was attended by the representatives of the Sports Association of the City of Tuzla, the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport of the University of Tuzla, the Commission for Culture, Sports and Youth GV Tuzla, sports clubs from the City of Tuzla, non-governmental organizations, as well as prominent sports workers. The meeting discussed the position of youth and sports in the City of Tuzla, with a special emphasis on resolving the controversial provisions related to the manifestation of the City of Tuzla Sportsman. The meeting took place in an excellent atmosphere and a constructive exchange of views, and talks will continue in the coming period.

All representatives of sports clubs presented their problems. Karate clubs in 2020 enter the membership of the Olympic Games, but do not have the approval of the Committee. They hope to solve the problem at the Assembly and speed up the process to the Olympics. Karate clubs expressed their dissatisfaction with scoring, although they

won medals in 2015 at the World Olympic competition. The board will be informed of the scoring, which will solve the problem at the Assembly. Cyclists who are preparing for the whole year, regardless of weather conditions, have also been exposed to their problems, but they have never been included in any category for awarding recognition. The president of the Sports Association of the City of Tuzla has suggested that all members have a common interest, boost sports funding, and choose priorities for sports finance in the City of Tuzla. Her biggest discontent was the ignorance of young athletes about the Code of Conduct Code for the "Athlete of the year awards". She wrote and signed the Code of Conduct and Behavior Code. All members of the "Player of the Year" selection must respect him. She also expressed dissatisfaction that sports clubs must solve their problems among themselves, not publicly through the portals. Members of sports associations must all together fight for all clubs and that Bosnia and Herzegovina must have champions as they once were.

At the meeting, Nerma Ibrahimović, a member of the Youth Resource Center Tuzla, was present.

Citizens Against Terrorism - CAT During January we continued with our regular activities within the project "Citizens Against Terrorism - CAT". Our cats continued to delight the public on social media, and this month for all our companions we organized a new prize game.

If you still do not follow our cats - we invite you to do it on www.facebook.com/CATBiH

Burch: Start Me Up

From 18 to 20 January 2019, Start Me Up: High School competition was held at the International Burch University in Sarajevo. This competition was aimed at gathering as many young people as possible, full of motivation, along with their business ideas. Thus, 110 participants with 40 ideas participated in the competition. Also, our member of the Youth group of ORC, Kenan Suljić, took part in the event, who, as the bearer and creator of the idea together with his colleagues from the team, won the first place with the Start up idea "DepressionApp".

It is important to point out that our team was created out of members come from four different cities from Bosnia and Herzegovina. The goal of the victorious idea is to create a unique application for depression, which will be free also in the service and competencies of the health centers with which cooperation and partnership are established. Thus, the initial cooperation was created with the Health Center of Tuzla, the Health Center Srebrenik, as well as the UKC Tuzla.

The special emphasis is that this will be the first application in the world of this kind and in this format, which will easily provide support, assistance and education to all citizens who need it.

UMiD! 14

From January 24 to 26, 2019, the first (I) module of UmiD training was held, where our Kenan Suljić, member of Youth group of ORC Tuzla, took part.

UmiD includes certified training of youth leaders "Learn, Think and Act!“ which gives students, among other things, the opportunity to gain self-confidence, to look at their abilities and potentials to develop a sense of responsibility in the society and gain management skills and engage in business. On the first module, trainees had the opportunity to learn and study the basics of leadership, as well as creating and developing team and team spirit.

Workshops were run by the trainer, Katarina Vučković, and this year's overall UMiD 14 training project is being conducted under the co-ordination of Aldin Alić. The participants stayed in "Spajalica", i.e. educational and recreational center for youth in Ilidža.

YOUTH WRITES:

Author: Slobodan Blagovčanin #Frontal Blog Challenge

Does BiH need NATO now? As citizens of BiH, we must double check the possibility and outcomes regarding entry of Bosnia and Herzegovina into NATO. It must be kept in mind that in our post-conflict society, deeply divided over the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina - our political leaders are not able to agree on less important integrations than NATO.

On one hand, we want a military neutrality looking up to Austria and Switzerland, while on the other

hand we want to become part of the Euro-Atlantic Military Alliance as soon as possible. Who is right and

what really brings us progress?

Nebojsa Radmanović, member of the party whose leader is currently presiding over the presidency, Mr.

Milorad Dodik, signed the MAP agreement in 2009, and in that way stated that it is crucial for BiH to

become a member of the NATO alliance. Today, this decision seems to be very confusing.

How in 2009, NATO was an option, and now 10 years later it is not an option. Although, in my opinion, it

is still a good question how it is possible that it took the leadership of the military alliance 9 years to

activate the aforementioned MAP.

As one of the participants in the conflicts in Bosnia and Herzegovina, they knew very well the

geopolitical structure of the population and the authorities. If there was an interest in BiH since 2009,

why is the membership not allowed yet or expedited at least? Our tiny military "contingent", changes

nothing in the military power of the forces, even if we send the whole of it.

Today, 24 years after the conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the defects of the Dayton Accord are more

visible. We use it as a breakfast buffet - in translation, everyone takes what is good for him. So today,

polarization is clearly visible about what the Peace Accord is.

If we look at it as an agreement that has stopped the war and created the basis for further building a

shared coexistence - then certainly we should not have problems with membership in a military alliance.

But if we interpret the Dayton Peace Agreement as an act that stopped the war and became the basis

Page 8: Dear friends, jan 2019 eng.pdf · Enjoy reading! Dear friends, We’re delighted to present you the Youth Resource enter’s (OR) Tuzla and Youth Network's in &H January edition of

for the further dividing the former Yugoslavia, then there is no reason to become a member of the

NATO alliance.

Marketing has inserted it into our sub consciousness that the membership in the NATO alliance brings

peace and stability. This is certainly true, when it comes to countries that fear foreign enemies. But in

what way would the absence of war (I do not dare to declare the situation in BiH a peace) stabilize if we

become a member of the NATO alliance?

Even if everyone affirmatively looked at membership in 2009, today 10 years after that (by whose fault,

I'm not sure) from the media we can find out that a group of citizens of BiH who oppose to such a

decision was reactivated again.

What if we had in mind that Bosnia and Herzegovina, in order to maintain peace and stability, should

remain neutral? What if we realize that some citizens oppose membership in the Euro-Atlantic Alliance?

What if we realize that there are many problems in our country, which can only be solved by internal

dialogue, without pressure from the outside?

What if we ask NATO to let us solve the existential problems, to deal with ourselves alone, to agree on

what kind of Bosnia and Herzegovina we want and whether we want it at all? Then we will discuss our

military neutrality or membership. After all, we have only 10 000 soldiers, why are we important?

And me? I am for peace, stability and continuous progress of BiH, regardless of military alliance or

military neutrality. Although, who cares what I think.

Association of High School Students in B&H

St. Mula Mustafe Bašeskije 7, 71000 Sarajevo Tel/fax: +387 33 205 850 E-mail: [email protected] Web: www.asubih.ba

We started the New Year in the right way! January was filled with many activities of local teams and some of the news that we are ready to share with everyone.

"ZOA" - Winter youth activism

The high school camp "ZOA" was held from 10 to 14 January in Breza, organized by the local team of Breza, the Association of High School Students in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The camp brought together 23 participants from various cities such as Živinice, Donji Vakuf, Visoko, Bihać, Velika Kladuša, Brčko, Bugojno and Kreševo, who had the opportunity to learn something new, socialize, but also enjoy the beauty of the mountain hut "Budoželje" in Breza.

The aim of the camp was to bring young people closer together and to promote youth activism, which is itself the goal of ASuBiH. During the camp participants participated in various workshops covering topics such as: Social Day, Youth Policy, Political Activism, Lobbying, and Political Literacy for Young People.

After the workshops, the participants, together with trainers, had an informal part of the camp, which was filled with various teambuilding games and icebreaking games.

Trainers at the camp were two members of the Steering Board, Arslan Arnautović and Bilal Softić, together with the president of the organization Matea Brkić.

"I think this camp has provided me with the opportunity to transfer the knowledge I gathered during the four years of work in the organization to people who are new to this world and who need to continue building our organization," said Arslan Arnautović, member of the Steering Board and trainer at this camp.

"ZOA" camp was successfully realized, and it gave us the motivation to also make it in the summer," Campaign Coordinator Arabella Lakić said.

ASuBiH announces an open call for submission of project proposals to be funded from the Social Day Fund 2018

The Association of High School Students in Bosnia and Herzegovina announces an open call for the submission of project proposals for high school students within the project "Social Day 2018". After ASuBiH realized its third "Social Day" on October 19, 2018, a project in which 1,565 high school students spent one day volunteering in companies, Social Day Fund was opened for supporting project ideas of high school students throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Each employer who was a partner in this project and provided the opportunity for high school students to spend one day in companies was obliged to pay the amount of daily allowance. The money that high school students earned that day formed the Social Day Fund for 2018. This program will finance projects targeting high school students, which will contribute to the development of local communities and the development of youth within those communities.

Before completing the Social Fund Application Form, pay attention to some of the basic criteria under which the Commission, in charge of selecting and supporting projects (consisting of 6 high school students from Bosnia and Herzegovina, of which 3 members of the Steering Board, 1 member of the ASuBiH Volunteer Group and 2 high school students who actively worked on the Social Day project), will choose successful project proposals.

The responsible person (coordinator) must be a high school student (14-19). The project proposal budget cannot exceed 900 BAM. (On the basis of the total amount of the budget, it is necessary to include 10% of the tax that is required when paying funds to the account of the Fund's users). The project proposal budget can not include the purchase of computers, sports equipment, projectors, or any other equipment that remains permanently owned. All activities planned within this project proposal must be on a voluntary basis. The call for proposals applies to all of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Representatives of each local team can possibly apply the maximum with 2 project proposals. In one local community, only one project proposal can be financially supported. The duration of the project cannot be longer than six months. The project proposal must be written to a maximum of 7 (seven) pages (including budget and activity plan) in the Times New Roman font, font size 12.

The objectives of the project must be clearly defined, and activities have to be in line with the budget.

The project contributes to the popularization of activism in Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as networking of high school students in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The project deals with the current problems of high school students, through a creative and innovative way.

The primary target group of the project must be high school students.

The project was submitted in the application form of the Social Day Fund. The project must be part of at least one thematic unit:

Out of the Box 2

The local team Šamac, in cooperation with the local team Visoko, successfully implemented the project "Out of the Box 2", which was held in Visoko from 14th to 18th of January 2019.

The objectives of this project were already established a year ago, when the first part of this project was realized in Šamac. The participants of the first part of the project were members of the local team of Goražde, as well as the representatives of the Union of High School Students from Serbia, our partner organization. The project was based on solving problems that are intertwined among high

school students, which are not discussed much.

"Also, one of the goals was to incorporate our team into the organization because at that time, as a rather young team, we were insufficiently involved in the work of the organization. After the first part of this story, we really realized, as a team, the values that this organization provides, we understood them better and got the motivation to continue working towards the mission and vision of ASuBiH, "said Stevan Josipović, coordinator of the local team of Šamac.

During a five-day gathering in Visoko, they worked together on problems of homophobia in society, sexual education and education of high school students, and discussed the current problems of these two local teams. Trainers were two members of the Steering Board Ema Tutić and Arslan Arnatović, as well as the coordinator of the local team, Šamac, Stevan Josipović.

"The trip to Visoko helped me to get rid of the fear I had, and it was about leading monologues to a large number of people. I am grateful for the opportunity I got, I met great people and I had the opportunity to run the workshop for the first time. It really means a lot to me and I wanted to show every high school student what ASuBiH can do, "said Kristina Ignjatović, a member of the local team, Šamac.

All participants agreed on one thing: "Visoko will be remembered, because such a project provides an opportunity to show what we think and to connect with people of similar opinions and attitudes. We will definitely continue to build our teams and we believe that this was another stepping stone for LT Šamac and LT Visoko! "

years each day from 11:00 to 13:00, and age 8+ from 14:00 to

15:30. The younger participants created educational things with

the help of local and international volunteers: rainbow with

snow clouds, decorative paper flakes, in English they adopted a

new vocabulary on the topic of emotion (happy, sad, angry). The

music workshops were performed by the songs "Jingle bells" and

"Santa Claus, Santa Claus, do not go off the track," and they had

the opportunity to try on various percussions and acoustic

instruments. This month, the youngest ones had the opportunity

to get acquainted with the comics, which was the first time for

most participants. They also worked on geometry and basic

geometric shapes.

Material used in the workshops is cardboard in color, collage paper, wood and greasy crayons, scissors,

glue, glue, wooden sticks, decorative paper, stickers, working sheets, plasticine, and wool. The second

part of the workshop is intended for relaxation, refreshment, yoga, sports and various competitive

their creativity by using various materials, and to develop motor skills, a sense of tolerance and respect

for others, and adopt good behavior.

The participants of the second workshop (14: 00-15: 30), for the age of 8+, were valuable participants in

various activities. Monday is a creative expression day where participants made creations for this month

rhythms. On Wednesday, Turkish language workshops were held with a repetition of the basis for

getting to know each other; participants also had the opportunity to get to know the complexity of the

family tree in Turkey. On Thursday, they were socializing with sports activities, social and teambuilding

games, and on Friday they continued to work in German workshops (vocabulary on the topic of

tolerance and human rights). This month youngsters participated in debates on human rights issues,

staying or leaving BiH, and volunteering in the local community or outside BiH. The goal of these

activities is to encourage the participants to develop their imagination and to use various materials to

express their creativity, develop motor skills, feelings of tolerance, respect for others and adopt good

behavior. The workshop coordinator in January was Adin Midžić with the assistance of local, Weltwaerts

and Erasmus + international volunteers. All activities are held in the Youth Center of the Brčko District.

Guitar workshops Participants in the guitar workshop continued with regular activities by practicing new techniques, etudes, compositions and duets.
