Who are the Wisteria Novas, Violet Dynastyz, Purple Surge, and Amethyst Rootz? The BCDH Company Teams are a dance/drill team.

◆ We are a competitive dance team; thriving and placing much more emphasis on increasingly difficult and correct dance technique rather than just synchronized, sharp movements.

◆ We perform an array of styles including pom, high kick, contemporary, lyrical, tap, broadway, jazz, hip-hop, and more! During community performances, competition, and conventions. Technique training is highly recommended to keep your technique level growing during off season.

◆ BCDH Company Team is a program that requires hard work, discipline, dedication, respect, and responsibility.

These 4 Company Teams are a PERFORMANCE team.

Dancers audition for each dance. May qualify for a solo, duo, or trio performance. The bar of excellence for our organization is continually rising. As a BCDH Company

Member, we embody the idea that hard work leads to success! There may be times where you work to perfect your technique, but you still do not “make” cuts. If/when this happens, come ask what your areas for improvement are and keep working hard for the next audition. It is just around the corner! Just don’t give up.

We don’t change choreography to make it easier for dancers to “make” the dances. We aim for showmanship and technical excellence.

The Company Dance Officers.

− These leaders audition for their positions, which usually includes a Captain, a 1st Lieutenant, and additional Lieutenants.

− Dance officers are the team’s technically best veteran dancers and are the main student leaders of the team. When you have a question about technique or choreography, dance officers are a great resource.

− Dance officers do not give demerits, but they do talk constantly with the team director who will give demerits when they notice something that is contrary to our team expectations.

The Company Social Officers.

− These leaders audition for their positions, which usually includes a President, Vice President, Secretary/ Treasurer, Chaplain and Historian.

− Social officers are responsible for motivating the team by organizing team-building exercises, Sister/Brother gifts, team dinners, opposing team gifts and other similar activities.

As we grow, we will continue to build upon our traditions!

Summary of BCDH Company Member Expectations

If you become a member of the BCDH’s Company Performing Team… It is a PRIVILEGE! Hold your head high and be proud of making it on the team! You are a leader, an artist

and an athlete!

Things each member must remember:

♥ Focus and commitment will help us continue to build a legacy of greatness.

♥ Becoming technically precise and artistically savvy requires hard work. A LOT of it.

♥ Nothing is “deserved.” We work for the things we want.

♥ You are your own responsibility.

♥ Gossip hurts everyone on the team.

♥ We are ALL learning- none of us is famous yet.

♥ THERE IS NO ROOM FOR NEGATIVITY. When we hear about it, we will handle it. Always.

♥ Be on time: “To be early is to be on time, to be on time is to be late, to be late is to be left behind.”

♥ Smile! Nobody wants to watch grumpy-looking dancers.

♥ Come prepared to do what is asked and required.

♥ Wear the correct clothes to practice!

♥ GROW your technique by practicing and setting goals for yourself.

♥ Take care of your body by drinking plenty of water and putting good, healthy things in it!

♥ Issues stay at the door- practice happens on the floor. If something is bothering you, talk to your Director before or after practice and trust that we will come up with a solution together. Dance time, though, is dance time and we must maximize the little time we have!

♥ Avoid these things: o Whining and complaining- EVERYONE is hot, tired, sore o Not packing your required items (appropriate footwear, props, etc) o Missing practice (or performances!!!) o Disagreeing with an officer or the Director PUBLICLY (This includes eye-rolling.)
