Dear Band Directors, Parents, & Students,

On behalf of the Mount Pleasant Community School District, I would like to welcome you to this year’s

Mount Pleasant Marching Band Invitational. This event is possible as the result of the dedicated service of

our music department and the strong support of our community and music boosters. I would like to

commend our staff and volunteers for sharing their time and talents to make this a first class event.

The community of Mount Pleasant places great importance on music education and understands a world

class education must include a quality music program that allows children to develop all of their talents.

Celebrating individual, as well as group growth is what our music program is about. Encouraging the

participation of ALL children in music allows for a more complete child and a higher quality of education.

Music is vital to the American educational system and our society. Music education teaches discipline,

perseverance, dependability, courage and composure, the very things that will help students find success in

life.

You will have an opportunity to see some of Iowa’s finest marching bands, and some of the most talented

musicians in the state. You will see firsthand the dedication of teachers who have put in so many hours

working with young people to create a musical masterpiece. All of the young people participating have put

in many long hours of practice so we can enjoy their music. Please join them in celebrating this work and

their accomplishment. We know music lifts our spirits and makes our days happier. I am confident you will

have a wonderful day and will leave with a smile on your face and a light heart.

We are very honored to host this event and would like to wish all the bands the best of luck! Enjoy the

great talents of our young people and remember to thank those involved with your music program.

Blessings, Dr. Mike Wells, Superintendent

The Lennis Moore Fan Appreciation Award

For 16 years, we have presented an award based on the num-ber of fans that attend for their respective school. Tonight we name that award after Mr. Lennis Moore. Lennis was the voice of the Panther Marching Band for 18 years. Since 1999, he has been the announcer for the Mt. Pleasant Marching Band Invitational and through his outstanding leadership, this event always ran efficiently with an emphasis on kids and a positive experience. Lennis was a giant in Southeast Iowa and

his leadership as CEO of the Midwest Old Threshers Association, his active participation in our schools, and concern for the people of this community made him truly special. An accom-plished artist and historian, Lennis understood the significance of what the arts can do for our kids. His presence will be extraordinarily missed but his spirit of kindness and desire to do what is best for kids will never be forgotten. It is with great pride that we present the LENNIS MOORE FAN APPRECIATION AWARD.

Become a Mount Pleasant Music Booster Patron!

The Mount Pleasant Music Boosters invite you to join us in striving to provide our children with a quality music program for grades K-12.

Last year patron funds purchased new music, instruments, instrument repairs,

high school uniform repair, clinicians for bands and show choirs, costumes, props, etc.

The Music Department budget far exceeds what the school district is able to provide and in order to continue our quality programs, we need your support!

Your contribution not only provides financial support for Mount Pleasant music,

but allows the Music Boosters to highlight & thank you as a Patron at all concerts.

You will also receive two complimentary tickets to the annual Music InMotion Show Choir Invitational in February.

There are seven Music Patron levels available to choose from:

Maestro ..................... $2,500 and up Vivace ........................ $1,000-$2,499.99 Presto ........................ $500-$999.99 Allegro ........................ $250-$499.99 Andante ..................... $100-$249.99 Largo .......................... $50-$99.99 Friends ...................... $20 - $49.99

If you would like to become a Music Booster Patron please visit our website: www.mpmusic.org. Click on “Music Boosters” and then click on “Patrons”.
