Development of the tourism market in HAM

Over the past ten years, the overall tourism market from Hamburg Airport has grown by some 71 percent in terms of passengers! Spain makes up almost half of the total market. Turkey’s market share declined in 2016 and 2017, while Spain’s grew. The passenger share for the Iberian Peninsula did go down again in 2018 and 2019, though, with Greece, Turkey and other smaller alternative markets growing. In total, almost 80 percent of charter demand from 2012 to 2014 was limited to Spain and Turkey, whereas the spread was broader for 2018/2019.

vel, and a dense network of low-cost long-haul routes has arisen over the past 10 years. But the network is growing in Europe, too, and there is significant potential for new low-cost long-haul routes, also at HAM.
