So, this week it has been the turn of St Teresas to take possession of a few new items for the Church. Firstly, a pair of identical chalices have been purchased which also happen to match those used at St Georges. There have been a number of comments, from both clergy and laity over the last few years, regarding the difference between the two chalices we were using; one was large yet shallow and you needed a very steady hand to make it feel secure, the other was a lot smaller and often could not be filled sufficiently to last until the final few communicants had received from the chalice. I do now hope that the two replacement chalices will appear more dignified and be far more practical for a Sunday Mass. The second item has been purchased, partly due to a mishap - someone inadvertently set their hair on fire a few months ago. Luckily, this accident did not result in any major harm but it has acted as a wake-up callin terms of the votive candle stands currently located in the church. Last year, a new votive candle stand was purchased and put by the statue of Our Lady at the back of the Church adjacent to the disabled entrance. Unfortunately, when the side door is open, the flames are blown about and this is proving to be quite a danger. Therefore, next week a replacement Electric Candle stand should be up and running. It is the same style as the one situated in St Georges Church where it has proved to be very popular. Ultimately, from an environmental viewpoint, the electric candles are virtually carbon neutral as they use only a fraction of a unit of electricity per week. In addition, wax candles need to be manufactured and transported, and despite a burning candle not adding much to our carbon footprint they do, however, release toxic chemicals into the atmosphere and so the electric ones are greener. As they say: Every little helps.Mgr Bernard REGULAR TIMES OF CONFESSIONS & ROSARY St George's: Confessions Thursday: 12.00-12:20pm Saturday: 10:00am-10:30am & 5:00pm –5:20pm Rosary : Thursdays: 11:45am & Saturdays: 10:00am St Teresas: Confessions by request MASS TIMES FOR THE COMING WEEK Informaon provided to the Diocese, together with all other personal data about individuals held by the Parish & Cliſton Diocese is processed in accordance with the Dioceses Privacy Noce, which is available at cliſtondiocese.com/privacy-noce or from the Parish Office. Since then, through the generosity of parishioners, the trustees have raised funds to install the window at the north end of the church, the cleaning & repair of the stained glass window above the altar & fund many other repairs & improvements. During the past two years the trustees have contributed to the re-development of the Old School & Preschool Nurseryinto 3 properes for rental – these rents will overme provide an ongoing income for the church. This income will be somewhat more than any income from investment of both the savings of the church & the Trust. As with any 150 yr old building, especially a Grade 2 listed building, maintenance & repair is expensive. This year the Trustees has contributed to the conversion of the church heang to gas with the installaon of two new gas boilers. The Trust is supported by parishioners who contribute by standing order or by joining the 200 club. On behalf of the Parish Congregaon & the Parish Priest, may I thank all the parishioners who contribute to this worthy charity.
